I previously bought my two daughters lower-quality plastic art sets from craft stores, which cost between $2 and $5. Unfortunately, they often fell apart, which is expected given the price. This Christmas, I decided to invest in better quality and purchased two Crayola Premier Sets.
First off, it’s important to clarify that what you receive is the Inspiration Art Set, not the Premier Set that includes scissors. The case is sturdy and filled with items your child will actually use—no useless pastel chalk or cheap watercolor sets like some other kits. This set comes with crayons, small colored pencils, pipsqueak markers, regular markers, and drawing paper. Plus, it’s the reliable Crayola brand.
One downside: just less than a week after Christmas, one of the clasps on my 11-year-old’s Crayola case broke off. I reached out to Crayola via their Facebook page for a replacement, and they quickly asked for the model number and my mailing address. I assume they’ll send a replacement, and I’ll update once I know more.
Overall, this set is great and will be perfect for any child who enjoys drawing or coloring. It might be best suited for kids who can take care of their things. My 10 and 11-year-olds seem to love their cases more than any other gift they received this year, which says a lot!
Update: Crayola got back to me and is indeed sending a new Inspiration Art Set to replace the broken case for one of my daughters. They offered me the choice between a new set or coupons for other Crayola products, and I opted for the new set since both girls enjoy it so much. What fantastic customer service!
