I recently bought the ET-2800 to replace my old Epson Artisan 837. Both are ink-based printers that handle black & white and color printing. The 837 features an Automatic Document Feeder and fax capability, which the ET-2800 lacks, but since I rarely use those options, it wasn’t a dealbreaker for me. (For those interested, Epson also offers the ET-4800, which includes ADF and fax functionalities for a slightly higher price.)

      1. The ET-2800 has a much smaller footprint than the 837, taking up less space on my desktop.
      2. Weighing significantly less than the 837, which is heavy and robust at 40-50 lbs, the ET-2800 is a breeze to move around.
      3. The print quality is excellent, though I haven’t printed much yet, just the usual test pages during setup.
      4. Installation was simple and went smoothly without any issues or unexpected surprises.
      5. I prioritized Mac compatibility, as I run MacOS Sonoma 14.6.1. Epson fully supports the ET-2800 for Mac users.
      6. After installation, I needed to download the latest drivers from Epson’s website. I opted for the recommended bundle that includes print and scan drivers along with utilities for photo printing and scanning. Once installed, the ET-2800 works seamlessly with my Mac.
      7. As an Eco-Tank printer, it utilizes bottled ink instead of traditional cartridges. This was my first experience with this type, and I really appreciate it. Refilling the four ink tanks (black, yellow, magenta, and cyan) was quick and mess-free, eliminating the risk of ink spills that can occur with cartridges. Plus, the bottled ink reportedly lasts longer than conventional cartridges, with refills available separately.
      8. The control panel could use some improvements. It’s somewhat small, and the button symbols are unconventional and not very intuitive. Epson should reconsider the design of this panel.
      9. The display is probably the weakest feature; it’s tiny, measuring about 1-1/4 inches square, making it difficult to read and forcing abbreviated messages that lack detail. It feels like a shortcut that could have been avoided with a slightly larger display.
      10. Entering the WiFi password during setup is rather tedious. The small display complicates the process as you have to navigate through different cases and symbols. It can take a long time to input a decent password and is prone to errors. Thankfully, this is the only alpha-numeric entry required.
      11. It’s a bit noisy compared to other printers, so it may not be the best choice for a quiet office setting.

Overall, I like this printer and would purchase it again.

My old printer broke down sooner than I’d hoped, so I did extensive research before choosing the Epson EcoTank printer for my home office. Here’s my honest review after about a month of use, and I’ll update it if any issues arise.

First off, I’ve been quite impressed with this printer. While the price is fairly typical for printers (which I generally find overpriced), it was slightly more than I wanted to spend. However, it’s smaller and lighter than I expected, which is a plus since it takes up less desk space compared to my previous HP printer.

Setup was a breeze, thanks to the straightforward, step-by-step instructions and guided app assistance. It took me only about 10 minutes, mainly waiting for the printer to initialize. I found it surprisingly satisfying to fill the ink tank. Plus, I appreciate that this ink could last longer than traditional cartridges, reducing plastic waste from my old HP Inkjet.

I’ve printed both black and white documents and photos. Since I do a lot of photo printing at home, quality was crucial for me, and the results were impressive! The photos turned out great—no smudges or color discrepancies, and the colors are bright and vivid. The printer’s automatic prompts make it easy to adjust for different paper types.

Now, for the downside that led me to give it 4 stars: I’ve experienced connection issues between the app and the printer. This was a recurring problem with my old printer as well. Despite being tech-savvy, I can’t figure out why this persists. There’s an additional Epson app required for printing, and sometimes it detects my printer while other times it doesn’t. I also encounter printer errors sporadically and have to bypass a paper mismatch error message, even though it corresponds with the settings across the board. I’ve restarted everything, but the connection and error messages continue to be a hassle.

Usually, I can get my documents or pictures to print after a bit of fiddling, but it often feels unnecessarily complicated. I’m still trying to work out the kinks and will update my review if I find a solution. Given that most home printers I’ve used have similar issues, this isn’t a deal breaker for me.

Overall, if you’re in the market for a new home printer, I would recommend this one without hesitation. The quality has been excellent so far, and I’m pleased with my purchase.

UPDATE: After printing hundreds of photos, I can confidently say the quality remains excellent, and my ink tanks are still mostly full. This printer far surpasses my HP in ink longevity. I’m upgrading my review to 5 stars solely based on how long the ink lasts, even though the user interface can still be a bit annoying. It’s completely worth it!

I’ve had a lot of issues with printers in the past, and they tend to have the highest failure rates among my IT equipment. After checking out reviews, I decided to make the switch from my previous brand to Epson.

The printer arrived quickly, as expected from Amazon, and was well-packaged to withstand rough handling. Unpacking was a breeze – I simply removed the adhesive tape on the movable parts and powered it on. The printed instructions were clear and easy to follow. I was pleasantly surprised by the ink tank system, which I found more convenient than traditional cartridges. The ink pouring process was straightforward and mess-free, leaving no leftover plastic wrap. I’ve refilled the ink since purchasing the unit, and it’s been hassle-free with no spills. Plus, the ink is cheaper and holds more than what I had used before.

Setting up the printer was also easy, with one exception. The included CD installed the necessary software on my desktop, and I loaded the paper to make my first print. Although there were a few faint lines on the test print, I followed the instructions to clean the ink heads, and that resolved the issue.

Now, about that exception: the integrated screen that displays information and guidance is quite small – only about an inch square. I had to kneel down to read it, which was a bit of a challenge, perhaps due to my poor eyesight or its awkward placement under my desk.

On the plus side, the print quality is exceptional. I’m really pleased with the vibrant, color-accurate photographs, as well as the day-to-day black and white and basic color prints. The Wi-Fi connection to my computer was seamless.

Overall, given the price, quality, and functionality, I consider this a great purchase, despite the small screen.

I’ve experimented with countless printers before and I was fed up with the high ink costs. This one has exceeded my expectations! The ink has a long lifespan and is quite affordable, plus you only pay for the colors you actually use. It’s incredibly easy to set up, the wireless functionality works flawlessly, the scanning quality is impressive, and it’s surprisingly quiet. The size is just right—not too big or cumbersome.
