This product exceeded my expectations! It’s high quality and performs exceptionally well. I couldn’t be happier with my purchase!

While I understand this item doesn’t include a battery, I used a 20V DEWALT battery and, after a full charge, I managed to make only three cuts on 4x4s (two cuts each) and two cuts on a 1×7. I might be inexperienced with circular saws, but it feels like just 8 cuts is really low. At this rate, finishing our deck will take ages, even with two batteries. On the plus side, this saw performs significantly better than the 5 1/2 inch Black and Decker saw I was using before. No complaints in that regard.

I’m extremely satisfied with this purchase; it’s lightweight and very user-friendly for remote job sites.

We were in search of a secondary saw to complement our Rigid 7.25″ and evaluated various brands before settling on this one. The 6.5″ Dewalt is remarkably lightweight compared to most 7.25″ saws, with our Rigid weighing nearly twice as much. This difference made it significantly easier to control, allowing us to achieve higher quality cuts and complete more projects before our hands fatigued. The nearest competitor, the Milwaukee 6.5″ M18, had a similar weight but came with an 80% higher price tag at the time.
This model features a brake that halts the blade almost instantly after releasing the trigger, a safety feature that beginner DIY’ers will find valuable. It’s worth noting that this feature is absent in our older Rigid saw and in some budget brands.
One minor drawback for some users is that the smaller 6.5″ blade may struggle with thicker materials in a single pass, necessitating a flip of the wood for a second cut. However, this is a negligible concern, considering that 99% of what we (and likely most users) cut are 2×4’s, 2×6’s, or plywood that’s 1″ or less, all of which this saw handles effortlessly.
If you’re not already committed to another brand’s batteries or are okay with adding a new system, this Dewalt is an outstanding choice—lightweight, reasonably priced for its quality, and a brand recognized by professionals. Avoid the temptation of cheaper brands to save a few dollars; you’ll likely end up replacing them quickly and wasting money. This saw seems built to last, or at least until they discontinue the batteries.

The DEWALT 20V MAX Circular Saw is a true game-changer! It’s lightweight yet powerful, effortlessly slicing through wood with its 6-1/2-inch blade. The performance is remarkable, and it’s easy to maneuver, even for someone like me who isn’t an expert. The bevel adjustments are straightforward, and I appreciate the precision of my cuts. It’s ideal for small to medium DIY projects, and the 20V battery outlasts my expectations. Overall, this is an outstanding tool for anyone wanting to enhance their home improvement skills!

I absolutely love this saw and its rechargeable system—who knew you could feel this way about a tool? I already own several devices that utilize the 20-volt batteries, including a 20-volt rotary hammer, three different chargers, and a 12-volt vehicle charger for my compatible handheld flashlight and floodlight, which I keep on hand for roadside emergencies or whenever I need light in the dark. You never know when you’ll need them!
As with any saw, having a sharp blade that’s suited for the material is crucial for optimal performance. I use this saw with premium 5Ah and 4Ah batteries and have a variety of blades for different materials, including some from Dewalt and my favorites from Diablo. It has far exceeded my expectations. It cuts effortlessly through solid oak and maple like they’re butter, and it can keep going all day. It’s lightweight and highly portable, but there is a slight learning curve as the blade is positioned on the left side of the tool, unlike the corded saws I’m used to, which have the blade on the right. However, it doesn’t take long to adjust.
This saw has quickly become my favorite power tool, closely followed by the rotary hammer. My only minor disappointment is that it doesn’t come with a rip fence. It feels a bit cheap for DeWalt, a brand known for its quality and not cutting corners. Including the rip fence would have likely cost them a few extra cents and saved customers the hassle of purchasing it separately. It’s available on Amazon for about thirteen dollars, so it’s an easy fix, but it does feel odd that it’s missing. This oversight might lower perceived value for some, especially with added shipping and taxes, which could add another $15-20 to the overall cost. If you don’t plan to rip, you might think about skipping it, but that could be a mistake; it’s always good to be prepared for future needs.
I’m so impressed with this saw that I’m considering getting the DeWalt 36-volt cordless model next. It uses full-sized 7¼ blades and offers even more power for cutting thicker materials, likely with better battery longevity. To clarify, the 20-volt model will satisfy most users looking for a high-performing portable saw without the hassle of a cord, and it’s lighter than the 36-volt version. The good news is that the rip fence seems interchangeable between the two, which solves that issue for me. Overall, I’m thrilled with my purchase of this high-quality DeWalt product.

I purchased this device because I needed a portable saw and have always been a fan of DeWalt products. The saw is both versatile and powerful, delivering excellent performance. Keep in mind that to make cuts, you’ll need a high amp battery pack, and it should reach full speed before you start cutting, as the motor may “jam.” This is just common sense, as any motor needs to rev up before cutting. The saw’s size is conveniently compact, fitting perfectly in the small bag provided by DeWalt, and it cuts accurately along the marked line using the guide.
