Design and Functionality
The unique design of the Breeze system features a grated tray that allows urine to drain into an absorbent pad below while keeping solid waste on top for easy removal. This eliminates the need for traditional clumping litter, thereby avoiding the mess and hassle of clumped waste. The anti-tracking pellets are specifically designed to reduce litter scatter, keeping your floors cleaner.
Benefits of the Breeze XL Litter System
1. Exceptional Odor Control
Numerous cat owners highlight the outstanding odor control capabilities of this system. Unlike traditional clumping litters that can trap odors, the Breeze system effectively channels urine away from the litter, and the absorbent pads lock in moisture and odors, creating a fresher environment. Users report that unpleasant smells are significantly reduced, making it a game-changer for multi-cat households.
2. Healthier Environment
One of the most appreciated features of the Breeze system is the absence of dust. Traditional clumping litters often release fine particles into the air, which can negatively impact the respiratory health of both cats and humans. The Breeze system’s pellets do not produce dust, contributing to a healthier living environment. Many users have noted improvements in their cats’ respiratory health since switching to this system.
3. Easy Cleaning Process
Cleaning the Breeze system is straightforward and efficient. Solid waste sits atop the pellets, allowing for easy scooping without the need to dig through litter. The drawer design allows for quick disposal of used pads without any mess. Many users find that they can maintain cleanliness with minimal effort compared to traditional litter boxes.
4. Cost-Effective in the Long Run
While the initial investment may seem higher than traditional litter, the Breeze system offers long-term savings. The absorbent pads can last several days, and the pellets do not require frequent replacement. Many users report that they can go weeks without needing to replace the entire system, making it a cost-effective choice over time.
5. Suitable for Various Cat Sizes
The extra-large size of the Breeze system accommodates cats of all sizes, making it suitable for households with larger breeds. Users have reported success in providing a comfortable litter experience for both their small and large cats.
Potential Drawbacks
1. Adjustment Period for Cats
While many cats transition seamlessly to the Breeze system, some may require time to adjust. A few users noted that their older cats were initially hesitant to switch from traditional litter. It’s essential to be patient and provide time for adjustment.
2. Challenges with Loose Stool
A common concern highlighted by users is the difficulty of managing loose stool. While solid waste is easy to scoop, liquid waste can sometimes lead to messier clean-ups. Users with cats prone to digestive issues may find this aspect challenging.
3. Cost of Replacement Pads and Pellets
Though the system is cost-effective in the long run, the ongoing need for replacement pads and pellets can add up, especially in households with multiple cats. Users should consider these costs when budgeting for pet care.
Conclusion
The Purina Tidy Cats Breeze XL Litter System proves to be a remarkable alternative to traditional litter box systems. Its innovative design, exceptional odor control, and ease of cleaning make it a top choice for cat owners, particularly those managing multiple felines. While there are some considerations to keep in mind, such as the adjustment period for some cats and the cost of ongoing supplies, the benefits far outweigh the drawbacks for many users.
Based on user experiences and feedback, I would rate the Purina Tidy Cats Breeze XL Litter System:

I want to start by mentioning that I have four cats and have tried every litter box system available (Litter Robot, clay litter, stainless steel, pine pellets, etc.). I have two large cats (16 lbs) and two smaller ones. One of my cats tends to pee high on the wall, while the others use the box normally. Here are my thoughts on this product:
The odor control is fantastic. While you’ll inevitably smell the poop when they go, just scoop it up and the smell is gone. The urine odor is completely absent. Seriously, this has been a game changer for us.
Health-wise, there’s no dust—none at all. My cats are no longer exposed to clay litter dust, and I’ve noticed fewer sneezes and better respiratory health. The pellets don’t dissolve or retain odors. Urine simply rolls off into the grates and onto the extremely absorbent pee pads, which I change every 3-4 days for all four cats. That speaks volumes about their absorbency.
As for litter changes, these pellets only need to be replaced once a month. It’s incredibly easy to scoop or dump them into a trash bag, with no spills or messy clumps to deal with. They remove cleanly from the box with no residue left behind. I just replace the pellets, and we’re good for another month.
I highly recommend this litter box system. It has truly transformed the experience, and I no longer dread dealing with the litter box. Do yourself a favor and get this!

This is by far the best litter system we’ve used after trying numerous types. It’s incredibly easy to clean, odor-free, and keeps the area tidy. However, it may not suit every cat. Our young cat transitioned seamlessly from traditional clay litter to this system, but our 16-year-old cat refused to use it, even after we removed her old, smelly litter box. Another downside is when your cat has loose stool; cleaning becomes quite challenging, and the pellets need frequent replacement, which can get costly. Despite this, I highly recommend this system as it saves both time and money.

I purchased this litter box for my cat with kidney issues, as he urinates a lot due to his condition. I need to change the liner more often than once a week, but that was the whole point of buying it – to separate the disposal of urine and feces. I am extremely satisfied with it. Highly recommend.

This litter tray is amazing—no smell and no tracking! I’ve tried over ten different litters, and this one is by far the best. I will never switch!

I have an elderly, diabetic cat who is almost blind and drinks a lot of water, leading to a significant amount of urine. His litter box would become soaked after just one use, causing him to urinate elsewhere. I decided to try this product because of its appropriately sized litter box and strategic entrance, along with its promise of urine collection to keep the box dry. It has been a fantastic purchase! I truly recommend it for its filtering system that keeps the litter box dry and the moisture collection mat that eliminates odors. It’s practical and hygienic.

This litter system is truly a game changer, and I’m not exaggerating. It has significantly enhanced our cleaning routine and Miss Kitty’s bathroom experience. The lengthy, frequent updates in other reviews are spot on. We’ve had it for about a year now, and it has been worth every cent. Here’s my detailed review.
Miss Kitty has a habit of peeing in the same corner every single time. Unfortunately, when we were using regular litter, that corner always ended up being extra dirty, regardless of how well the litter clumped. As Miss Kitty ages, she’s become less concerned about keeping her paws clean, leading to messy footprints everywhere. Litter would get stuck in between her paws, which couldn’t have been comfortable. Plus, she’d kick litter out and grip it in her paws, making a mess no matter how hard we tried to clean it up. Since she loves to sleep on our bed, we were desperate for a solution.
After some searching, I stumbled upon this system (I think it was a recommendation on Reddit). I read through numerous reviews, updates, and hacks. It seemed too good to be true, but thankfully, it isn’t.
Here are the major pros:
Cons:
I never thought I’d be raving about cat litter, but here I am. TL;DR: Just get it. You won’t regret it.

I’m really impressed with this product. I’ve tried numerous litter systems, but this one stands out because it accommodates my large cats perfectly.
a long way from home –
We began using the Breeze system four years ago when a new kitten caused chaos in our multi-cat household, leading to territorial marking. Transitioning to the Breeze was surprisingly easy; I kept a traditional box alongside it, and soon enough, the cats showed a clear preference for the Breeze. Now, we have five boxes for our four cats, and I’m thrilled to report 100% litter box compliance (we rehomed the kitten, who is now happily settled in a two-cat home).
When Purina introduced the new hooded box, I didn’t necessarily need it, but I’m a sucker for upgraded versions of great products. I wanted to place the hooded box in a more visible area to keep the litter concealed.
The hooded box is fantastic. While it appears small and some reviewers claim it is too cramped for their cats, we have two small ones and two larger ones. Within the first week, this box quickly became the cats’ favorite, needing more frequent scooping and pad changes than the others. I haven’t seen any issues with litter being kicked out.
For those unfamiliar with the Breeze system, it’s truly impressive. The urine is absorbed by the pad below, effectively controlling odors. The feces sit on top of the pellets or get slightly buried if the cat tries to cover it. It hardens quickly, making cleanup a breeze. The only issue I’ve faced was a splash from diarrhea, which would happen with any litter box in that situation.
The pads can be quite pricey (unless you opt for the scented ones, which we found overwhelming). Thankfully, several companies are now producing alternative pads, and I noticed that Purina has recently lowered their prices. I’ll be monitoring this to see if it lasts.
In conclusion, like many cat owners, I’ve tried countless litter systems over the years, including expensive electric options and toilet training kits. While I had success with toilet training for one cat, the other refused, so we abandoned the idea. In my experience, the Breeze system is the best cat waste solution out there. It’s easy to clean, doesn’t require daily upkeep unless desired, and the cats love it. The added hood makes the litter box situation even more discreet. Plus, I’ve found it to be more economical in the long run. It’s a win-win-win!
