Comprehensive Review of NYDJ Women’s Marilyn Straight Denim Jean
The NYDJ (Not Your Daughter’s Jeans) Women’s Marilyn Straight Denim Jean has garnered considerable attention in the fashion world for its ability to blend comfort with style. The model number, Marilyn Straight, reflects a design that aims to flatter a variety of body types while providing versatile options for various occasions. This review will delve into the features, fit, and overall performance of these jeans based on customer feedback, helping prospective buyers make an informed decision.
Versatility and Design
The Marilyn Straight Jeans are crafted with a classic straight-leg silhouette that effortlessly pairs with a range of outfits, from casual t-shirts to dressier blouses. The timeless five-pocket styling, zip fly, and button closure give these jeans a sophisticated yet casual appeal. They are available in various washes, allowing for both trendy and classic looks, making them a staple for any wardrobe.
Exclusive Lift Tuck Technology
One of the standout features of the Marilyn jeans is the patented Lift Tuck Technology. This technology includes a slimming panel that lifts and shapes, promoting a smooth silhouette. Many reviewers noted that this feature significantly enhances comfort, allowing them to enjoy a flattering look without compromising on ease of movement. The design encourages a sleek appearance, making the jeans ideal for both daily wear and special outings.
Perfect-Fit Measurements
With a 32-inch inseam, 9.75-inch front rise, and a 16-inch leg opening, the Marilyn jeans strike a balance between comfort and style. According to feedback, many customers found that the fit runs large, with the recommendation to size down for the best results. This aspect is particularly important as it ensures the jeans hug the body in all the right places, enhancing the overall look.
Comfort and Material Quality
The fabric of the NYDJ Marilyn Straight Jeans is often described as stretchy yet substantial, providing the comfort of leggings without compromising on the structure of jeans. Reviewers praised the material for its thickness, noting that it feels more substantial than typical jeggings, offering a supportive experience that doesn’t sag or bag after wear. This is especially important for those who lead active lifestyles or prefer a reliable pair of jeans that maintain their shape throughout the day.
Customer Experiences
- Sizing and Fit: Many customers echoed the advice to size down, reporting better comfort and fit at a smaller size. This has been a common theme among those who have transitioned from other brands. For instance, a user who usually wears a size 14 found the 12 to be not only more fitting but also more comfortable than her previous favorite jeans.
- Length Issues: A few reviewers noted that the jeans can run long, particularly for those on the shorter side or those with proportionally shorter legs. While alterations are an option, the absence of a short size option has been a deterrent for some potential buyers.
- Pockets: A recurring point of frustration has been the size of the front pockets, which some customers found too small for practical use. One reviewer mentioned that they couldn’t fit a lipstick tube in the pockets, which raised questions about the design choices made in this area.
- Value for Money: The pricing of the Marilyn jeans tends to fluctuate, with some customers advising potential buyers to keep an eye on sales to get the best deal. For those who were able to purchase during promotions, the jeans were considered a great value for the quality provided.
- Durability: Long-term users of the NYDJ brand reported satisfaction with the overall durability of the jeans, indicating that they hold up well after numerous washes and wears, retaining both their color and structure.
- Style Versatility: Many shoppers noted that the Marilyn jeans can easily transition from day to night, making them a versatile addition to any wardrobe. This adaptability is a significant selling point, as it allows for varied styling options without the need for multiple pairs of jeans.
Conclusion
In summary, the NYDJ Women’s Marilyn Straight Denim Jean offers a blend of comfort, style, and versatility that many women have come to appreciate. With its Lift Tuck Technology, perfect-fit measurements, and classic design, it’s clear why these jeans have become a favorite for many. However, potential buyers should be mindful of the sizing recommendations and the pocket size issue.
Rating: 4.5 out of 5 (★★★★½)
The NYDJ Marilyn Straight Jeans earn a commendable rating of 4.5 out of 5 for their overall fit, comfort, and style versatility. While there are minor drawbacks, such as sizing discrepancies and pocket usability, the positive feedback from users highlights their value as a staple piece in a woman’s wardrobe. For those seeking a reliable, flattering pair of jeans, the Marilyn Straight is undoubtedly worth considering.

I snagged two pairs during a deep Black Friday sale, making them about the same price as local jeans. I’m absolutely in love with them! They’ve become my new favorites, taking the place of my GV Amanda jeans. I opted for a size 12 instead of my usual 14, and they’re even more comfortable than the Amandas at that size. The fabric is stretchy and smooth—thicker than jeggings—without cutting into my waist at all. In contrast, the Amandas have a firmer weave, less stretch, and can dig into the waist when sitting, as most jeans tend to do. These are a tad long for me but can be easily hemmed, while the Amandas fit perfectly. Both styles feature a supportive second layer below the waist, which doesn’t really hold anything in but helps prevent stretching over any bumps. What I love most about these jeans is their sleek appearance and incredible comfort. They’re definitely my new go-tos, and I’ll likely buy them in every color when they go on sale—totally worth the price!

I purchased the NYDJ Marilyn jeans in Biscayne and I absolutely adore them! At 5’6″ and 140 lbs, I typically wear a size 10 in most brands, but I opted for an 8 in this case. I have a shorter torso and longer legs, and the length is just right. The fit is fantastic, with a nice amount of stretch and a relaxed feel, giving a very flattering appearance. They create an elongated look for my legs, and the waist is super comfortable. The fabric weight is ideal for spring, fall, and winter.

I absolutely love NYDJ jeans! As a 67-year-old woman, I appreciate that these jeans fit perfectly and are incredibly comfortable. They’re versatile enough for everyday wear and can even be dressed up for special occasions. I always look for them on sale, and I can confidently say they are well made—I’ve had no issues with the zipper or stitching. Highly recommended!

I’ve been a fan of NYDJ jeans for years; they’re incredibly comfortable, flattering, and durable. I recently ordered a new pair without hesitation, and upon trying them on, they fit perfectly, so I set them aside. When I finally wore them yesterday, I was pleased with the fit once again. However, for the first time, I attempted to use the front pockets, only to find them so small that even a tube of lipstick wouldn’t fit. What were they thinking when designing this style? These are regular full-length jeans, not capris or leggings, so I was surprised. Unfortunately, I was so accustomed to loving these jeans that I didn’t check the pockets before the return window closed—by two weeks, to be exact (my last return date was March 14). Now, I’m stuck with jeans that can’t even hold a tissue in the front pocket. While I know I’ll manage, it’s just another frustration when you expect a better experience.

After multiple trips to the store trying on brands like Lee, Levi’s, and Vanderbilt without finding the right fit, I stumbled upon this pair at an amazing price and decided to give them a try. I’m so glad I did—the fit is fantastic when you size down as suggested.

Wow! I just noticed the price has risen to $129. I paid $78, which I thought was steep. Just keep an eye on the prices; they tend to fluctuate frequently.
I really want to assist others in deciding whether to purchase these jeans. I always read reviews before making a decision, and with a price like this, the more information available, the better!
So here’s my experience: I’m 5’7″ and weigh around 135 lbs, with a long torso and a thicker waist. Thanks to a recent surgery, I don’t have much of a backside anymore, which has made me depend on leggings and long shirts. I used to love wearing jeans, especially Calvin Klein, as they always fit perfectly, but now they just hang on me, which is disappointing.
A friend recommended NYDJ, saying that everyone she knows loves them. I chose the Marilyn style because I prefer a straight leg. I went for the Lombard shade, which is a medium blue with a grayish, acid-washed tint and some whiskering. I absolutely love this color! After consulting the company’s sizing advice and reading numerous reviews, I ordered a size 8. They were right—definitely go down a size from what you usually wear. I typically wear an 8 or 10 and considered trying a 6 for a tighter fit, but I prefer my clothes a bit looser. However, the size 8 was looser than I would like, and I almost found myself needing a belt, which is unusual for me with my thicker waist.
The fabric is heavier than I usually like; it’s a thicker denim and feels a bit stiff. I believe they would soften with some washing and wearing. I don’t expect them to shrink, even in the dryer, due to the material’s stretch. The length was slightly long—around a 32″—but I was barefoot, so they might be fine with a small heel.
I have to admit I liked them a lot; they checked all the boxes for me. However, considering my lack of a backside to fill them out, I really wanted them to work, but at that price, I just couldn’t justify keeping them. I suppose I’m destined to stick with leggings and long shirts for the foreseeable future.
If you can overlook the price, I believe most women would adore these jeans. They offer a flattering fit for various body types. They’re casual yet can easily be dressed up with a nice blouse and heels or boots. Just remember, these are straight-leg jeans, not skinny or bootcut. There are numerous shades and washes available. And definitely, size down!
I hope this review helps you make your decision. Cheers!

I’ve been a fan of NYDJ for years, and they never disappoint. This soft brown color is absolutely beautiful.

I absolutely adore NYDJ jeans, trousers, and tops. I usually wear a size 8, but after losing some weight over the past year, I ordered a size 6. I always opt for the Marilyn Straight leg jeans. While the 6 has the desired long legs and I appreciate the wash color, the fit around the hips and waist was quite loose. After just five hours of wear, they started to look baggy.
I tried washing them in hot water and putting them in a hot dryer, which did help them tighten up a bit, but they quickly stretched out again. I expected better from NYDJ and I’m a bit disappointed, but I’ll still consider purchasing from them in the future.

I really love how these jeans fit, but they are way too long! I’m 5’4″ and wear a size 6, and they were about 6 inches too long. I’m hoping they offer a “short” option because they felt fantastic otherwise!

I’ve been wearing these jeans for years and absolutely love the fit and fabric. I still have my size 12s, but now I can comfortably wear a size 10. They do run large, so I recommend ordering one size down from your usual.
