I purchased this to connect three external monitors to my Mac Air (2023), and after installing the driver, it worked flawlessly. I’ve gained so much screen space! The front USB-A ports are incredibly handy for quickly connecting temporary devices. I’ve got an Ethernet connection, wireless keyboard, wireless mouse, camera, printer, and scanner plugged into the back, all using just one USB-C port from the Mac. It’s extremely convenient!

I’m not sure what the trick is to making this device work, but it only recognizes one of my three displays and doesn’t support full resolution. I installed the DisplayLink app and granted permissions for each device upon connecting, but that didn’t help. Even with just one display, it fails to detect it. The support page search is ineffective, leaving you to sift through irrelevant recommended articles that won’t address your issue. And if you need support, get ready to download another app, fill out forms, and then enjoy the silence.

Works well with the 2020 M1 MacBook Air, but it’s not entirely plug-and-play. You’ll need to follow a few setup steps, which is fine for me, but some users might find it challenging. The main reason it doesn’t earn a full 5 stars is that it’s not flawless. Sometimes, when the computer goes to sleep or during initial connections, it takes a bit of time to recognize all three monitors, and occasionally one monitor fails to connect, requiring a power cycle to get it recognized again. However, it does the job overall. At this price point, I expected a bit more reliability. I’m using two 1080p monitors alongside a 32″ ultrawide, and surprisingly, it has been quite dependable after a few hours, with no noticeable lag. I haven’t tested the Ethernet port yet, but it charges the computer without any overheating issues. Overall, I’d rate it 4.5 out of 5 stars. It’s a great solution for overcoming Apple’s single monitor limitation with the M1.

I just installed the driver, and all three of my monitors received a signal. It was easy, straightforward, and sleek. Now I have three monitors in my office.

I appreciate how clearly the product details highlighted the ability to charge my laptop via pass-through, eliminating the need for my original MacBook Pro charger. It supports up to three monitors at a 1920 resolution and is compatible with M1 chip technology. All this information was readily available, not buried away, and I received the product the same day I ordered it. The price felt reasonable, and while the product is a bit on the lighter side, it still feels solid. I have a preference for heavier items, but I’m genuinely excited about this product. I’m now using three monitors after installing the driver. It took a moment to locate the driver on the website, but with a bit of reading, it was easy to find. I’m sharing this review because I’m thrilled with my purchase. Thank you, tech company!

As a nursing school student, I required ample screen space for simultaneous research, referencing, and paper writing. Initially, I bought a small non-HD monitor and used a j5 Create dongle for connection, but it still fell short. So, I made a significant upgrade and purchased a 27″ 4K HD monitor from a local computer store, along with another j5 Create dongle, which they assured me would be compatible. However, when I connected both dongles, I discovered that my M1 laptop couldn’t support dual monitors.

I needed a workaround and found the DisplayLink software, which led me to purchase the appropriate module from Amazon. A quick tip: you can’t just download the software and expect to run two j5 Create dongles simultaneously, or even a single dongle with multiple HDMI inputs—it doesn’t work that way. There’s also a bit of confusion when the software requests permission to “RECORD YOUR SCREEN.” This permission is necessary for the module to capture and process your screen info with minimal delay, which is hardly noticeable unless you’re gaming. For my purposes, which mainly involve writing papers, it works perfectly.

I opted for the more affordable module as I’m using one 4K HD monitor, a 21″ SD monitor, and my laptop screen, resulting in a total of three screens displaying different desktop images—no mirrored screens here, just a genuine multi-monitor experience!

The setup works flawlessly. I can stream YouTube videos in 4K on one monitor while running multiple applications across the others, with no lag or glitches. The only minor issue is that running a video in full screen on the 4K monitor occasionally affects the resolution, but given the amount of processing the software and module are handling, that’s impressive.

I highly recommend this product if you’re considering a similar setup, but if you plan to run two 4K HD monitors, you might want to look at the second or third tier of more expensive modules. Overall, I’m extremely satisfied with this purchase, as it meets all my needs perfectly!

I’ve been on the hunt for a way to expand my laptop to three additional screens, and this docking station delivers flawlessly! All three of my 27″ monitors operate at 1920×1080 with a 60Hz refresh rate. Just make sure to download the DisplayLink driver as suggested. As long as I’m using three monitors, I can’t imagine switching to another docking station. A+++, great job, Plugable!

After struggling with a Lenovo docking station to get all three monitors functioning, I ordered this with same-day delivery. I downloaded the software, and it was plug and play—I was up and running in just 5 minutes!

After trying two other docking stations, I’ve finally found one that works perfectly. The Plugable USB C Docking Station is an impressive solution for anyone looking to set up multiple monitors. It supports up to three displays, connects numerous peripherals, and even charges your laptop—a crucial feature for my home office. To ensure the docking station operates flawlessly, I follow these steps:

      1. Connect the Docking Station: Use the included USB-C cable to plug the docking station into your laptop.
      2. Power Up: Ensure the docking station is plugged into a power source.
      3. Connect Monitors: Utilize HDMI or DisplayPort cables to hook up to three monitors.
      4. (Optional) Install Drivers: You might need to download drivers from Plugable’s website for optimal performance. In my case, my Windows laptop didn’t require any additional drivers.
      5. Finally, Connect Peripherals: Connect your mouse, keyboard, and other devices to the docking station’s USB ports, and plug in the Ethernet cable into the Ethernet port.
