I previously owned a 2021 10 Plus, and I can confidently say this tablet is a significant upgrade. The graphics are better—brighter and sharper—and it performs all the functions of the 10 Plus, plus more, with improved speed. The charging port is a PD C port, allowing me to connect various flash or external drives, which the Fire formats for use. These drives can still be used with my regular computer afterward. I’ve even created a flash drive with essential items for power outages, as my Fire is my go-to device in those situations.

Now, let’s talk about the pen. I purchased one when I got the Max 11, and it has been a game-changer. It’s the best decision I made, which is why I also got an 11 and a pen for my disabled son. The pen works flawlessly with this tablet, outperforming any stylus I’ve ever used. The palm rejection is excellent, with only occasional minor mistakes. I tried several major stylus apps on my 11 (after sideloading the Play Store, which is easy to do with simple online instructions). The top contenders were Inkredible and Squid. Inkredible allows users to purchase only what they need, which is a huge plus for me. I love customizing backgrounds for household notes, and this app helps tidy up my scattered notes.

I initially faced some challenges with Inkredible when trying to add backgrounds, but I figured out how to create and export a PDF from Inkredible, re-importing it as an embedded background, which solved the issue. The writing enhancement feature in Inkredible allows my handwriting to look smoother while maintaining my personal style.

Squid is another solid app, but it requires a subscription for features like importing. While it lacks the enhanced writing feature, it offers a variety of page formats, which could be useful if I need something specific that Inkredible doesn’t provide.

One feature I wish the 11 had is the ability to annotate pages in the web browser, similar to my HP laptop. It’s fun and practical to mark up web content and save it as a screenshot. Other than that, the stylus functionality is nearly flawless. I’m thrilled with this purchase; it’s what I’ve been waiting for.

With the Play Store sideloaded, this tablet becomes incredibly versatile. While I’m not sure how it fares for business users, it’s productive enough for the average user. It’s my go-to device for entertainment and work while I wait in various settings. Note-taking is now a breeze since I can write directly instead of tapping on a keyboard. This tablet will replace the devices I keep on my desk for phone notes, with everything saved conveniently on my 11.

My son also benefits greatly from this tablet. He often struggles with organization due to his disability but constantly has his Fire with him. I got him a case that holds the pen, so he’s always ready to jot down notes, and he loves it.

While our 2021 models were functioning fine, the stylus capabilities of the Max 11 prompted me to upgrade, and I’m so glad I did. For us, it’s a significant leap in enjoyment, productivity, and support for his needs. Upgrading was definitely worth it.

Since I got this tablet, I can confidently say it’s a great investment. I have NFL Sunday Ticket and wanted a better way to watch games while on the go, rather than using my phone. It’s also handy to have a smaller screen for browsing scores while the main game is on TV. However, I was disappointed to discover that the YouTube TV app isn’t available in the app store. There is a workaround, though—by accessing YouTube TV through the browser, you can still watch it, which works reasonably well, even if it’s not perfect. I hope they enhance their app offerings and improve their Android interface. With impressive speed, picture quality, and ample storage, it stands out as an excellent alternative to other tablets that cost significantly more.

    The Bearded Mystic

The Fire Max 11 is, without a doubt, the best Fire Tablet I’ve used since the HDX series, and it has quickly become my favorite. To give you some background on my experience with Fire Tablets over the past 11 years, I’ve owned or tried the following models: Fire 7 (2012/2014/2020), Fire HDX 7 (2014), Fire HD 8 (2018), Fire HD 8+ (2020/2022), Fire HD 10 (2018, 2019), Fire HD 10+ (2021), and Fire Max 11 (2023). The ones I kept the longest were the Fire HDX 7, the Fire 7 (2014), and the Fire HD 10 (2018).

    Design and Build
The Max 11 features a sleek, modern design with a robust, premium build quality. Its lightweight aluminum frame makes it easy to carry around for both work and leisure, and I appreciate the size and aspect ratio reminiscent of the 2018 HD 10.

    Performance
With a more powerful processor than its predecessor, the Max 11 handles various tasks with ease. Whether I’m browsing the web, watching videos, or multitasking with several apps, the experience is smooth and lag-free—much better than my HD 10. While it may not be ‘blazingly fast,’ it exceeded my expectations. I even tried it with a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse, and for light to medium users, it genuinely feels like a potential laptop replacement—something my HD 10 cannot claim. The multitasking capabilities are impressive, allowing me to run multiple apps simultaneously with minimal lag.

The speakers are just adequate, slightly disappointing, but I usually rely on earbuds or a Bluetooth speaker anyway. I appreciate the lack of a headphone jack and the responsive fingerprint sensor on the power button.

    Display
The display has been one of my biggest surprises. It’s vibrant and sharp, with excellent viewing angles and accurate color reproduction, making it enjoyable for media consumption and reading. I wish it were a bit brighter at times, but the color vibrancy compensates for that most of the time. The difference between the 10 and the 11 is surprisingly significant; the Max 11 often feels like a small TV or laptop screen.

    Battery Life
The battery life is decent—neither the best nor the worst—and should be sufficient for most users. Since I have chargers in most locations where I use the tablet at home, I haven’t experienced any issues running it low.

    Value
One reason I’ve owned so many Fire Tablets (besides one non-Fire device, a 6th gen iPad mini for business use) is the incredible value and user-friendliness they offer. Critics often downplay the Fire software, but I’ve never minded it. Being deeply integrated into the Amazon ecosystem with movies, books, and music, I find the operating system intuitive. I’ve also side-loaded the Play Store (which I did on my HD 10), granting me access to nearly all the apps available. For those adventurous enough, you can essentially convert it to a more Android-like experience. Initially, I was excited about the Max 11’s specifications but hesitant about the price. I waited for Prime Day to make my purchase, taking advantage of a trade-in offer. After applying the trade-in gift card and discounts, I effectively paid just $73.99, making it an incredible value. At the original price of $229, I would recommend considering refurbished options or waiting for discounts (as of now, it’s on sale for $189.99). Nonetheless, even at $229, I believe it’s a solid tablet.

    Overall
In summary, the Fire Max 11 achieves a commendable balance between aesthetics and functionality, providing a modern solution that caters to most users’ needs while delivering value and longevity. It could be a worthwhile addition to your tech collection, offering reliability and efficiency for daily use.

I purchased this tablet from Amazon during Black Friday week to replace my old Fire tablet that I had for many years. I have to say, it’s a significant upgrade! The size is perfect for reading newspapers and similar content, making the experience enjoyable. While it’s a bit large for reading Kindle books in my lap, I appreciate being able to enlarge the font and not have to flip pages as often. The screen is gorgeous, enhancing my video watching experience. The only drawback is the lack of access to the Google Play Store, but I’m willing to overlook that.
