This is a fantastic three-hand military hack watch that supports a worthy cause—the Veterans Watchmakers Initiative. The unique etching of troops with a clock on the back adds a special touch to this model. The luminous dial is easy to read, and the watch keeps accurate time. Being an automatic, it offers reliable performance as long as you wear it, and it retains power for about a day if removed. It’s simple to set, and the band fits comfortably. Overall, this watch is impressive and functions as well as others priced twice as much.

Stylish design and precise performance so far. I appreciate the added feature of being able to wind it.

Having worn this watch for a year now, I’m genuinely pleased with it. It definitely fulfilled my desire for a field watch, and the fact that it’s a replica of a historically significant model is a great bonus for any collector. However, I did notice upon arrival that it was magnetized, which can impact its accuracy. A visit to a trusted watch repair shop will easily resolve that issue.

This watch is well-crafted, looks great, and keeps accurate time. It does gain about 10 seconds each day, which is typical for mechanical watches; even Rolexes can lose around 5 minutes a month. I rated it 4 stars instead of 5 because it’s heavier than what I’m accustomed to. This isn’t a flaw of the watch itself, as mechanical timepieces generally weigh more than battery-operated ones. I’ll need some time to adjust to the extra weight. Overall, it’s an excellent timepiece with high quality and precise timekeeping. If you’re looking for a watch with a 21-jewel movement without spending a fortune on a Swiss model, I highly recommend this one.

If you’re looking for a genuine “field watch” with solid construction and a design that honors classic models, this Bulova is fantastic. It looks and feels great on the wrist. Note that it’s medium-sized, leaning towards the smaller side. Definitely a must-have for collectors. Highly recommended.

FELT TOO SMALL

I was looking for an automatic watch and decided to go with this one. I’m quite impressed! The strap didn’t fit my small wrist, so I replaced it, but everything else has been great so far. It’s very accurate and, true to its name, it hacks. I appreciate that it features hand winding alongside the automatic movement—such a fantastic combination. While I usually prefer transparent case backs to see the inner workings, I actually enjoy the design of this one. The overall theme of the watch really appeals to me. The 30m water resistance doesn’t concern me, though I might consider getting a Bulova Mil-Ship eventually.
When I compare it to my Seiko5 SNK809, I think the Bulova clearly stands out and is worth the investment. Although it lacks a day/date display like the Seiko5, the Bulova’s hacking and hand-winding capabilities make up for it; the Seiko doesn’t offer that. Not a huge issue for me, as I can easily use a couple of pocket calendars for planning.
Speaking of which, this watch is perfect for preppers. Its mechanical automatic movement means there’s no need to worry about timekeeping in an EMP situation. The only risk would be forgetting to wind it and losing track of time. Just remember to keep a G-Shock in a Faraday cage bag along with other survival gear like a solar USB rechargeable hub, electric lighters, and a radio, so you can check the G-Shock for the correct time.

This watch keeps excellent time and has a stunning appearance. I appreciate its heritage, especially since Bulova produced various items during WWII. My only issue is with the bracelet—it’s quite large. While the quality is decent, even the smallest size is still too big for my wrist, which isn’t tiny but is on the smaller side. I’ll need to replace it with something more suitable. Considering the case size, I expected the bracelet to fit better on smaller wrists, but that’s not the case. It’s a minor complaint, though, and I would definitely recommend this watch!

I tested the watch with a timegrapher, and it was perfectly accurate.

Excellent Hack Watch from Bulova. In the first week, it gained about 4 seconds a day. This watch is not only aesthetically pleasing but also well-constructed. I own a 42mm Automatic Hamilton Khaki Field, and this 38mm Bulova Hack watch holds its own against it at half the price. It’s slightly smaller and chunkier than the Hamilton, and the absence of a date window is actually a nice touch. I have a 7.5” wrist, and the strap that came with the Bulova Hack has plenty of adjustment holes, making it suitable for larger wrists as well. The luminous dial also provides a nice glow. Overall, it’s a fantastic watch, and I highly recommend it.

Exceptional build quality, stylish versatility, and impressive lume—what’s not to love? I paired it with an oyster bracelet, and it really stands out. I’ve received numerous compliments. It’s officially my new favorite.

As someone who works in tech, I still appreciate the charm of a classic mechanical watch. This watch stands out to me for its elegant simplicity—it’s easy to read and not overly complicated, making it visually appealing. Its circumference is just right, though it is a tad thicker than I’d prefer, but it’s still manageable. I particularly enjoy its vintage, rounded design, possibly due to the configuration of the lugs.
To my surprise, this watch is more accurate than some of my other mechanical timepieces that cost twice as much. I’ve noticed that it runs a few seconds slow during the day when I wear it, but if I leave it face-down overnight, it runs a few seconds fast. This seems to balance out, allowing me to go over a week before feeling the need to reset it. Plus, the “hacking” feature makes setting it to the exact second a breeze.
It feels durable, although I’ve seen mixed information regarding whether the crystal is sapphire or glass; I can’t confirm either. I’ve worn it daily without noticing any scratches, but my typical activities are limited to office and grocery trips—not extreme adventures. The lume is decent, though not extraordinary.
Overall, if you’re in the market for a straightforward, affordable, and well-crafted mechanical field watch, this is an excellent choice.
