10 reviews for Dell Gaming OptiPlex i7, RX 550, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, 24″ Monitor Review

Great device, works perfectly; however, it doesn’t come with the original packaging.

I was surprised by the size when it arrived; it’s much smaller than my previous tower computer. However, I’m very impressed with its performance—boots up quickly and is easy to set up. Just make sure your monitor has an HDMI port, as that’s required for video output. The included mouse and keyboard feel quite cheap, but given the price, it’s not a big deal. It also comes with a small USB device for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. After setting it up, don’t forget to install all the Windows updates, as the video driver that comes pre-installed is outdated and caused some initial issues. It seems to have two slots for adding a video or sound card, though I haven’t checked what type yet. Overall, it’s a fantastic little computer for the price, especially if you’re on a budget—definitely a good deal.

Excellent value for the price! I’ve been using this PC for work over the past three months and have encountered no problems. It’s fast, quiet, and manages multiple applications effortlessly. I can run around 15 programs simultaneously without any issues. While it doesn’t have built-in Wi-Fi, it does include a USB Wi-Fi adapter.

I am very pleased with the performance and features of the device. Just keep in mind that the CPU is from the 7th generation, so it doesn’t support Windows 11, and the motherboard doesn’t accept later generation CPUs. In my case, this wasn’t a requirement, so I’m very happy with the purchase. The device comes with Windows 10 ready to be easily installed upon first startup.

UPDATE! A month in, and it’s still performing excellently and incredibly fast. I opened it up and found the interior spotless and “like new”! No dust or signs of wear whatsoever. The legal upgrade to Windows 11 Pro (just search online for the upgrade method outside of Windows Upgrade) went smoothly, and it now receives regular Windows updates. I found the included STG mouse to be lightweight yet very responsive, contrary to some claims that it’s “cheap junk.” I don’t use the keyboard, though, as the “enter” key is poorly positioned, making it difficult to reach and leading to typing errors. I connect via ethernet, so I can’t comment on the wifi dongle, but it seems to be functioning. The Bluetooth dongle works perfectly.

If you’re worried about potential failures after a year or more, I recommend getting the Asurion extended warranty. I did, and I’m relieved to have it—although I haven’t needed to use it after a month of use.

I purchased this PC and found it to be exceptionally fast and robust, featuring an Intel Core i7 processor at 3.6GHz, 32GB of RAM, and a 1TB solid-state drive. It includes wifi and Bluetooth dongles if you want those options. I prefer connecting via ethernet for the best internet experience.

Some reviewers have mentioned the flimsy keyboard and mouse. If you’re satisfied with your own, feel free to skip using the included ones. Keep in mind that it does not come with a monitor.

A common concern is its incompatibility with Windows 11 (as it comes with Windows 10 Professional), especially since Microsoft will stop issuing security patches after October 2025. However, if you’re somewhat tech-savvy, you can easily overcome this issue. I managed to upgrade to Windows 11 Pro on this PC! (Check out ZDNet for instructions on how to force the upgrade—it works beautifully.)

Overall, I’ve found this to be a robust PC for everyday use. While I’m not into gaming, it suits my needs perfectly for web browsing, financial software, and Photoshop, among other tasks. I expect it to perform well for years to come.

I absolutely love this $235 PC!

The PC arrived a week ahead of the earliest expected delivery date and looked like it was brand new. Setting it up was a breeze, and I installed Atlas OS without any issues. The keyboard and mouse that came with it felt a bit cheap, but they are completely functional. Just a heads up, it didn’t include an HDMI or DisplayPort cable, so make sure you have an extra one available.

The Dell 7050 renewed computers are an incredible deal. Originally designed as industrial and office machines, they’re about six years old. When new, they cost five to ten times more and were top-tier models. However, in the fast-paced tech industry, six years is a long time, and they’ve been replaced by newer, more advanced machines. Despite their age, these computers are still highly capable for home use—surprisingly better than my three-year-old high-end gaming rig in almost every aspect except for graphics, which are still decent.

While the hard drives were wiped when the machines were retired and they lacked internal WiFi, the refurbisher has upgraded them with a substantial 1TB SSD and provided a small USB WiFi adapter. They also include a new USB keyboard and mouse. An unexpected bonus was the inclusion of a CD/DVD RW drive, which I don’t use often, but it’s great to have for older media.

The refurbished unit arrived in pristine, like-new condition. Recently, my wife’s 15-year-old Dell computer failed (power supply issue), and I deemed it not worth repairing. This replacement offers double the storage and multiple times the speed at half the price.

I managed to salvage the old hard drive and clone it to a USB drive using Macrium Reflect, which is an excellent backup and transfer tool, even in its free version. After wiping the new machine’s drive, I restored my wife’s files, programs, and settings from the clone.

    Happy wife, happy life!

A note on the USB WiFi dongle: it works well once installed, but the installation process can be tricky. The newly cloned operating system initially recognized it as a storage device rather than a network adapter. If you try to access this storage device, it automatically installs the correct driver, and then it works as intended.

I bought the Dell OptiPlex 7050 SFF desktop as a gift for my 13-year-old son, and it has been an excellent choice for his first PC. He mainly uses it for gaming (Minecraft, Roblox, and various online games) and schoolwork, and it performs flawlessly for both.

The setup was easy, although we had a brief scare when we couldn’t figure out how to connect to Wi-Fi. We eventually discovered the Wi-Fi USB component included in the box that we had missed. Once we plugged it in, the Wi-Fi worked seamlessly, and my son was gaming within just 10 minutes.

This desktop is compact, efficient, and perfect for someone new to PCs. It runs smoothly, and my son is thrilled with it. I highly recommend it for gaming, schoolwork, and overall performance!
