This 12″ saw perfectly meets my needs. Living off-grid, I was looking for a saw that was lightweight yet powerful, as well as quiet and user-friendly. This saw delivers on all fronts. It cuts quickly and is compact enough to navigate through the woods to chop up fallen trees for firewood. I can fill an entire agronomy tote with wood using just a couple of batteries.

This chainsaw is fantastic! As a 5’4″ woman with no expertise in power tools or gardening, I was looking for something to help me tackle a mountain of brush that my clippers just couldn’t handle. I purchased this chainsaw two years ago, and it has worked flawlessly since then. We’ve really put it to the test, cutting branches up to 8 inches in diameter—yes, we actually measured them because we were so impressed!
When it first arrived, I didn’t realize I only needed chainsaw oil to keep it running smoothly. It’s lightweight, making it comfortable for me to use even on a ladder—I feel like a total badass up there! It weighs around 5 or 6 pounds, so it’s easy to maneuver without any clunky feel. I can easily navigate through branches while on a ladder with minimal effort.
We primarily use it in the spring, but during Christmas, we realized our tree was a bit too tall, so we grabbed this saw and, in just five minutes, it was perfect.
The price is reasonable and comparable to similar items, but I chose this one because Dewalt is a trusted brand. It charges fully in just 1 to 2 hours, and it’s straightforward to maintain—removing the casing allows easy access to clean the chain and bar.
Overall, I give it two big thumbs up! I highly recommend it!

I wholeheartedly agree with all the positive feedback about this saw and can’t think of any drawbacks. Having owned large gas chainsaws for decades, including a 20″ Stihl, I know how tedious it can be to fuel up, adjust the chain, use it briefly, and then clean it before storing. This Dewalt is incredibly user-friendly for typical homeowner and gardening tasks. Adjusting the chain tension in just ten seconds is a game-changer compared to gas models.
As others have noted, it’s important to use it appropriately: this isn’t a heavy-duty lumberjack saw, so take it easy on the blade pressure and allow the cutters to do their work. The chain and battery life will appreciate it.
One positive aspect I haven’t seen mentioned is that when cutting grass, you can set this saw down without scorching the lawn, unlike the hot bottom of a gas saw. Plus, when you release the trigger, it goes quiet, a nice contrast to the noisy, smelly gas saw.
Lastly, I can confirm that if you lay the saw on its side with the blade horizontal and the oil fill pointing up, it won’t leak oil. Mine has been sitting on cardboard for 72 hours, and not a single drop has escaped.
I absolutely love this little saw!

Having used a gas chainsaw in my younger days, I know they excel in heavy-duty tasks and require a lot of power. This lightweight electric saw, however, is perfect for someone like me. It’s easy to carry around, and the automatic oiler eliminates the hassle of repeatedly spraying oil on the chain. The battery life is impressive too; I can cut several wheelbarrows full of firewood on a single charge. I was pleasantly surprised by its cutting capability. Much of the wood I work with is dead and quite hard, yet this saw can slice through an 8-inch piece of dead wood in about a minute. Comparatively, my small 6-inch battery saw would take around 20 minutes and multiple battery changes for the same job. The only downside I’ve noticed is that the oil from the chain drips onto the ground where the saw is stored, but I’m not sure if there’s a solution for that.

Where do I start? I was thinking about investing in a nearly $400 Husqvarna gas chainsaw after taking down 75 trees of various sizes in my yard using my friend’s 16” and 20” saws. After about 50 trees, I decided to purchase this little 12” saw to handle the remaining ones, primarily for cutting limbs and branches. However, with my friend working overtime, I had to take matters into my own hands. I began testing this saw on the remaining trees, including some thicker ones that would really put it to the test. I was pleasantly surprised! The saw had more than enough power to cut through branches and I ended up felling about 15-20 trees, cutting them up without any issues—Oak, Maple, Pine, Sassafras, you name it. I only had to change the chain once due to dulling, but I did a lot of cutting.
I can’t emphasize how convenient this saw is! It’s lightweight and maneuverable, making one-handed cutting a breeze when needed. It’s powerful enough to tackle trees larger than 12”, though a bigger saw might be easier to handle. Still, knowing it’s capable is reassuring. The battery life is impressive—I’ve never been more satisfied with a battery-powered tool. The batteries last a long time, and I only had to swap it out once during a day of cutting multiple trees. Despite its small size, you can use it all day without excessive fatigue. It’s quiet and perfect for thinner trees and branches, but it also performs well with thicker ones. Just remember to have some oil on hand. This tool is amazing! I’d give it 10 stars if I could. I was so impressed that I ended up getting the Dewalt 20v weed trimmer, pole saw, and hedge trimmer as well. The battery life and quality are outstanding!

I was initially doubtful, but I was completely mistaken. The battery life is impressive—I haven’t even drained the first one yet. It cuts as effectively as a gas-powered model, albeit a bit slower (which I expected), but it’s still quick and powerful. It’s compact enough to use one-handed if you need to reach far or hold something while cutting. I anticipated it would feel like a toy, but it’s actually very well constructed and feels just like the real deal. While it may not be suitable for felling trees, it’s essential for trimming branches and tidying up your yard!

The saw’s battery performs well. We conducted cutting tasks for about two hours, and the battery still showed two out of three green LEDs. It’s important to ensure that the brake is pushed back before starting to use the saw. Overall, we are pleased with the tool.

This compact chainsaw is a delightful surprise! It’s quite powerful and easily handles large cuts. However, I was disappointed that the kit didn’t come with chainsaw oil, so I’m currently waiting for it to arrive before I can use the saw. It does consume quite a bit of oil!

Impressively lightweight and surprisingly quiet compared to the gas model.
