Cuisinart 11-Piece Cookware Set Review: Chef’s Classic Stainless Steel Collection 77-11G

When it comes to outfitting your kitchen with the best cookware, few brands inspire as much confidence as Cuisinart. Their 11-Piece Cookware Set from the Chef’s Classic Stainless Steel Collection (model 77-11G) stands out for its combination of durability, performance, and style. In this review, we will explore the features, benefits, and overall user experience associated with this impressive cookware set.

Overview of the Set

The Cuisinart 11-Piece Cookware Set is an all-encompassing collection designed to meet the needs of both novice cooks and experienced chefs alike. The set includes:

  • 1.5 Quart saucepan with glass cover
  • 2.5 Quart saucepan with glass cover
  • 3 Quart saucepan with helper handle and glass cover
  • 8 Quart stockpot with glass cover
  • 8″ Skillet
  • 10″ Skillet
  • 7.08 inches Steamer insert

Crafted from aluminum and stainless steel, this set not only boasts a sleek appearance but is also engineered for efficiency and durability. With a mirror finish that adds a touch of elegance to any kitchen, this cookware set is as functional as it is aesthetically pleasing.

Material and Design

One of the standout features of the Cuisinart 11-Piece Cookware Set is its construction. The aluminum encapsulated base ensures that the cookware heats up quickly and distributes heat evenly, which eliminates any hot spots during cooking. This is particularly beneficial when searing meats or preparing delicate sauces, as the consistent heat allows for better cooking results.

The stainless steel cooking surface is designed to resist discoloration and does not react with food, which means flavors remain pure and unaltered. Additionally, the riveted stainless steel handles provide a secure grip, and the helper handles on larger pots make for easy maneuvering. However, users should be cautious as the lid handles can become hot during cooking.

Performance in the Kitchen

User experiences indicate that this cookware set performs exceptionally well. Many reviewers noted that transitioning from non-stick to stainless steel required some adjustment in cooking techniques. Proper preheating is crucial; users recommend heating the pan for a few minutes before adding oil or food to minimize sticking. Cooking with fats such as avocado or grapeseed oil seems to enhance the non-stick quality of the stainless steel surface.

Whether simmering sauces in the saucepans, frying eggs in the skillets, or boiling pasta in the stockpot, users reported even heat distribution, leading to perfectly cooked dishes every time. Moreover, the tempered glass lids allow for easy monitoring of cooking progress without losing heat.

Ease of Cleaning

Cleaning up after cooking can often be a chore, but the Cuisinart cookware set makes it relatively straightforward. The stainless steel material is dishwasher safe, and most users have praised the ease of cleanup. For stubborn stains or residues, a simple solution of baking soda and water is often enough to restore the pots and pans to their original shine.

Durability and Longevity

Durability is a key aspect of any cookware investment, and the Cuisinart 11-Piece Cookware Set does not disappoint. The robust construction of each piece is designed to withstand high heat and regular use. However, some users have reported minor discoloration after extended use, which may be a concern for those who prioritize aesthetics. Nonetheless, the overall consensus is that this set is built to last and can easily become a staple in any kitchen.

Final Thoughts and Recommendations

The Cuisinart 11-Piece Cookware Set is a solid investment for anyone looking to upgrade their culinary arsenal. With versatile compatibility for stovetops—including gas, electric, and induction—this set meets the needs of a wide range of cooking styles. The combination of high-quality materials, professional performance, and elegant design positions this cookware set as a top choice for both everyday cooking and special occasions.

For those making the switch from non-stick to stainless steel, it may take some practice to master cooking techniques, but the rewards of healthier cooking and enhanced flavor are well worth the effort.

Rating: ★★★★½ (4.5/5)

On a scale of 1 to 5, this cookware set earns a 4.5. It excels in performance, design, and durability, making it an excellent choice for both novice and experienced cooks. While some users noted concerns regarding lid handle heat and minor discoloration, the benefits far outweigh these drawbacks, making this set a worthy addition to any kitchen.

This cookware has a stunning finish, is quite heavy, offers a great range of sizes, and I’ve been using it regularly since I bought it. However, a word of caution: the lid handles can get extremely hot and will burn your hand if you don’t use a mitt or holder! The pot handles stay cool, but those lid handles are a different story—so be careful! Additionally, after just two weeks of use, I noticed a small dark stain on the inside bottom of one pan. Initially, I thought it was a burn or food stain, but it seems to be a discoloration of the metal. What’s going on, Cuisinart?!

I purchased the Cuisinart 11-Piece Cookware Set to replace my old All Clad set that has served me well for 25 years. I was pleasantly surprised by several features this set offers at its price point.

    Pros:

    • The stunning finish is visually appealing, with a smooth, mirror-like polish.
    • The aluminum base encased in stainless steel heats up quickly and distributes heat evenly.
    • The handles and rivets feel robust, providing a secure connection to the pots and pans. The pan handles remain cool to the touch, and the groove along the handle aids in stability while pouring.
    • The tempered glass lids allow for easy monitoring of cooking food.
    • The cookware cooks food exceptionally well, ensuring even heat distribution and maintaining temperature when adding ingredients.
    • Cleanup is a breeze, typical of stainless steel products.

    Cons:

    • The set feels noticeably lighter than my previous cookware, and the thinner side walls heat and cool more rapidly. This can lead to temperature fluctuations that might affect cooking performance.
    • The beautiful mirrored finish is likely to scratch and dull over time, while brushed finishes tend to camouflage wear and tear better.

Given the incredible value this set provides, it’s hard to find significant faults. I am truly pleased with my purchase and look forward to using it for many years to come.

I’ve used the pots and pans several times this week since they arrived, and I’m really impressed with the quality. They maintain a shiny stainless steel appearance, even after some cooking mishaps with eggs. I’m so happy I made the switch from nonstick. Just a tip: make sure to preheat, add oil, and then start cooking. Also, dissolve salt properly to avoid staining as it heats. If any food gets charred, soaking it in boiling water for 15-30 minutes makes it easy to clean.

Second update: If you want to prevent food from sticking, here’s a tip for those new to cooking with stainless steel: Preheat the pan for about 3-5 minutes before adding any ingredients. Then, splash a bit of water in; it should bead up instead of splashing. Once you see the beads, your pan is ready!

Update: I’ve been using this set for a while now, and I’ve noticed that some pans are becoming harder to clean over time due to leftover oil stains. To tackle these, just mix baking soda with a little water.

I absolutely love this set and am thrilled to have replaced our Teflon non-stick pans. It includes everything you need, is easy to clean, durable, and the handles stay cool! Definitely worth every penny!

This set is definitely worth the investment! I’m gradually transitioning from non-stick cookware to better options like this stainless steel set, and I’m really impressed with its performance. The material is robust, durable, and simple to clean. I’m still getting used to cooking with it, as food can stick sometimes, but I realize I just need to learn the proper heating techniques after so many years of using non-stick. Thank goodness for YouTube tutorials!

I had been looking for a stainless steel pot for a while, considering various designs and budgets. I finally made my decision and I hope to use it for a long time with care.

These pans are very functional. They are a bit heavy, but not overly so. The material appears to be of high quality, and food doesn’t stick when preheated properly. Since they are made from this material, they don’t leave any harmful residues in your food. It’s the healthiest option available.

This is my first stainless steel cookware set, and after some research, I felt ready to start cooking. I really like this set; it’s comfortable to use and very durable at high temperatures, making cleanup a breeze. There were no hot spots, and my chicken cooked evenly.

Here are some tips I followed while searing my chicken with stainless steel:

    • Make sure to wash your cookware with a non-citrus detergent before the first use—avoid lemon-scented products like Dawn and stick to regular dish soap.
    • Preheat your pan for about 2 minutes before adding oil or food. Bringing it from cold to hot is essential to prevent sticking. Use low to medium heat and test with a few drops of water; if they bead up, you’re ready to go.
    • Use fats like Avocado or Grapeseed oil, which work better for high heat, rather than Olive oil or regular butter, as they can’t withstand the heat as well.
    • If your oil starts to dry out, that’s a sign your heat is too high—just add a splash more during cooking.
    • Once the pan is hot, you can lower the heat; stainless steel requires initial high heat but can burn food if it stays too hot. Save your butter for the end of cooking when you can reduce the temperature.
    • After taking your meat out to rest, allow the pan to cool for a few minutes before washing it while the meat is resting. Use warm to hot water and a gentle detergent; avoid cold water as it can warp hot stainless steel. I used the soft side of Scrub Daddy, which is safe for stainless. For tougher stains, Brillo or SOS pads work well.
    • Dry your cookware right after washing to keep the finish pristine.

Bonus tip: Don’t hesitate to use Brillo pads on stainless steel; the packaging even endorses it.

They aren’t as heavy as cast iron, nor harmful like Teflon; they are excellent.
