This is my daughter’s first phone, and we had a bit of trouble finding an unlocked device compatible with our carrier. Fortunately, this one fit the bill and was genuinely unlocked (unlike some others mentioned in reviews). It arrived in excellent condition—no breaks, scratches, or cracks, and everything functions perfectly. The price was absolutely worth it! It’s ideal for a first phone. While the camera quality isn’t top-notch, you get what you pay for. She can make calls, send texts, and play her games; it has everything she needs and works seamlessly with parental controls through Google Family Link. I highly recommend it. It did come with a USB charging cord, but not the outlet adapter.

Setting it up for my daughter was a breeze. You really can’t beat a $100 phone that offers the same features as pricier models. It does have a tendency to be slow, though—very slow, in fact. I feel like $200 is too much for this device; it wasn’t worth the price. I would return it if I hadn’t missed the window.

Overall, despite some drawbacks, I can live with them for a budget backup phone. The first two photos were taken with the rear camera at high resolution, the third with the front camera, and the last two indoors at a restaurant on high resolution.
I like this phone a lot. I was considering a 5-year-old device for backup, which had good specs but raised concerns about battery life and security updates. This phone is from 2024, has already received several updates, and is set to upgrade to Android 14 later this summer.
Since I don’t play games, I can’t comment on that aspect, but for a backup phone, it’s perfect, and I highly recommend it!

How many apps do you have on your phone? 40? 50? Remember your phone from a couple of years ago? Maybe 15-20 at most? Those were the days when we got excited about a few free apps or games on new devices. Well, those days are long gone! If you’re looking for a change, consider the Moto G series. Right out of the box, it’s impressive. I had no complaints at all—lightning fast, plenty of storage, a fantastic camera, updated apps, and tons of customization options. Just wonderful!
However, a few months later, I experienced the dreaded update (I think it was in April, maybe March), and now I find myself with over 400 apps. I’ll attach a picture that shows 399, but there have been about 30-40 more added since then. A whopping 75-80% of these are “system apps,” which are basically bloatware from every carrier out there. For example, I have Bluetooth apps for T-Mobile, Verizon, Sprint, Metro, and Cricket.
Before you suggest uninstalling them, let me tell you—I’ve tried that. I’ve factory reset the phone twice, but they are built into the phone’s memory, and there’s no way to delete them. Some of these apps can potentially brick your device with just a few clicks, so unless you’re a developer (and I’m not), it’s best to steer clear of those menus and folders. Why do they have to name everything so suspiciously like “com.sys.IM-WATCHING-YOU-PAM.000”? Just promise me you won’t venture into that app or folder!
Honestly, Motorola should compensate me for having to dive into IT school just to learn how to navigate this phone and remove the junk apps manually. The only options I have are to force stop and disable them. Yet, I still feel like they’re collecting my data—why wouldn’t they? This isn’t just an issue with my phone; my partner’s Moto G Stylus 5G has it even worse. The Play Store is constantly bombarding us with updates, and transferring data feels like sending it to the “mother ship.”
We even had to upgrade our home internet plan and router because we couldn’t use Wi-Fi simultaneously without issues. The apps are also demanding excessive permissions unrelated to their functions—like a calculator wanting camera access! The sheer number of apps needing system changes or full device control is overwhelming. I might consider asking for a refund, but honestly, most phones seem to be going in this direction, profiting off our data and still trying to sell the next-gen models at retail prices.
When you finally get a moment to enjoy a quick photoshoot, good luck! The default camera app is basic at best, so you think you can download a better one from the Play Store. Nope! There’s a restriction on the camera that prevents any third-party app from utilizing the full 48 megapixels you paid for. You’ll be lucky to access 10 or 12 MP!
Just as Google introduces its awesome two-step verification and authentication keys, you’re left explaining to your partner why your Google Takeout doesn’t have as much info as hers. And don’t even get me started on Facebook activity!
So now, I have to remember all my unique passwords, double log in, and verify my identity three times just to check a promotional email about new apps coming out next week. To top it off, Google security comes in saying they don’t trust my login (because I’m using a VPN, ironically from Google). They can’t differentiate between my legitimate login on a trusted device and what they assume is a hacker logging in from three states away.
At this point, I’m considering a jitterbug and stress eating sour worms to unwind. But yeah, the phone is cool, aside from all that.

It’s not without its flaws—there’s a bit of lag, and its camera doesn’t quite stack up against typical flagship models—but at $130, the value far exceeds that of pricier options. What I appreciate most about this phone is its solid performance without the feeling of being overcharged by the manufacturer. If you’re someone who enjoys showing off brands like Samsung, Apple, or Google, go for it. But if you want great value for your money, this phone is definitely worth considering.
