I was in search of a headphone amp to allow me to practice anywhere without the hassle of carrying my bulky Katana 50. After going through various reviews, I decided to give this one a shot. Initially, I encountered a couple of issues: 1. The jack didn’t fit snugly in my guitar, and 2. There was a noticeable amount of “static,” even in the pre-amp. After some investigation, I discovered that the problem stemmed from the guitar’s connector, which had also caused similar issues with the Katana. Once I replaced the connector, this amp worked flawlessly. The sound quality is fantastic, offering a diverse range of tones suitable for any musical style. The equalizer is impressive; even with only five modes, they are distinct enough to achieve a well-balanced sound without separate bass and treble controls. The Bluetooth feature is excellent, allowing for seamless streaming of backing tracks or music from my computer, phone, or tablet without any lag. The battery life is quite good, lasting around 3-4 hours of usage, and you can even use it while charging for extended sessions. Although this headphone amp is on the pricier side, its versatility and quality make it well worth the investment.

This portable amplifier is the best investment I’ve made in my journey to pick up the electric guitar again after 20 years. I can’t express how grateful I am to have discovered this little device. Here’s my honest review after nearly a month of using the Fender Mustang Micro with my Gretsch Streamliner Junior Jet Club G2215-P90. I’ve also included a video demonstrating various features: amplifiers, effects, modulation, tone, and volume adjustments. The video was recorded by connecting the Fender Mustang Micro to my Gretsch G2215-P90, using the neck P90 pickup, with audio captured via a USB-C cable directly into my Android phone, using the “Dolby On” app. Please bear with my limited skills; as I mentioned, I’m re-learning on my own after almost two decades!

    DESIGN AND GENERAL SPECIFICATIONS:
What first amazed me was how such a small device offers a wide range of options with an incredibly user-friendly interface. You simply connect your guitar with the jack, plug in your headphones via the 3.5mm input, turn it on, and start playing. It’s that easy! It’s compact (fits in the palm of your hand), lightweight, and made from high-quality materials.

AMPLIFIERS, EFFECTS, MODIFIERS, TONE, AND VOLUME:
The unit features four main buttons to select and combine: 12 amplifiers, 12 effects, 5 tone adjustment levels, and 6 effect modifier levels. The amplifiers allow you to move from clean tones to adding some overdrive and finally distortion. Each amplifier is designed to represent the sound and settings of iconic models like the ’65 Twin and ’57 Deluxe, but I primarily use them to experiment with different distortion levels.

The available effects include reverb, chorus, flanger, tremolo, vibratone, and delay in various combinations. While you don’t control individual effect levels, the preconfigured combos are convenient and easy to use in daily practice. The tone and volume buttons let you adjust the sound from bright to mellow, while the effect modifiers allow you to tweak selected settings from slower to faster or from less to more reverb.

Each button has an LED that changes colors, indicating which amplifier, effect, tone, or modifier is selected. You can combine them however you wish, and it’s genuinely intuitive. The package even includes a small card showing what each color corresponds to. In no time, you’ll learn the colors and combinations you prefer.

Finally, it has a master volume control and a power button that also activates the Bluetooth audio input.

    CONNECTIVITY AND BATTERY:
It connects directly to the guitar via a standard 6.35mm jack, which can be adjusted for comfort. I’ve only tested it with Stratocaster and Les Paul models, but I’m confident it will work with virtually all electric guitars. Additionally, it includes a USB-C input for 1) charging the internal battery, 2) firmware updates, and 3) most importantly, for audio output to record on your phone or computer. It comes with a short USB-C cable, so I purchased a 2-meter Ugreen cable for easy connection to my phone or computer.

The battery lasts for many hours; I’ve never run out while playing. I’ve only recharged it about three times this month, and it charges quickly—about an hour. One of the standout features is its Bluetooth audio input connectivity, allowing you to send audio from your phone or computer to the Fender Mustang Micro and mix it with your guitar sound directly in your headphones. This is an incredibly useful feature, as you can create backing tracks and play along or send signals from your guitar lesson app or videos.

    CONCLUSIONS:
This amp is perfect for anyone, regardless of their electric guitar experience. Whether you’re a beginner like me wanting to practice without disturbing the neighbors or a professional musician looking to rehearse on the go, I don’t see any flaws. I do wish it had a customizable memory bank to save amplifier and effect settings and an extra button to toggle between saved and current settings, functioning like a footswitch. I imagine this feature will be included in future models.

I recently got my hands on the Fender Mustang Micro Headphone Amplifier, and it has truly transformed my practice sessions! As a guitarist, I used to dread carrying my amps and pedals upstairs to play in my room. Now, with this incredible device, those struggles are a thing of the past.

The convenience of the Fender Mustang Micro is one of its best features. Its compact design makes it super portable, allowing me to plug in my Fender Stratocaster directly and play quietly without bothering anyone around me. This headphone amplifier offers a fantastic experience, delivering a rich and authentic sound that captures the classic Fender tone I adore.

Setting up the Mustang Micro couldn’t be easier. Simply plug in your guitar, put on your headphones, and you’re ready to rock! The user-friendly controls allow me to adjust the volume, gain, and tone effortlessly, so I can tailor my sound just the way I like it. Plus, it comes with a variety of amp models and effects, providing endless opportunities for experimentation and discovering my ideal tone.

The sound quality from this headphone amplifier is exceptional. The tones are well-balanced, and the built-in effects add depth and character to my playing. I love how it captures the nuances of my guitar’s sound, letting me fully immerse myself in the music without sacrificing clarity.

What really sets the Fender Mustang Micro apart from other headphone amplifiers is its impressive battery life. I can practice for hours without worrying about losing power. It’s liberating to be able to play anywhere inspiration strikes—at home, while traveling, or even outdoors.

In summary, the Fender Mustang Micro Headphone Amplifier is an essential tool for guitarists. Its portability, user-friendliness, and outstanding sound quality make it an invaluable addition to any guitarist’s gear. Ditch the heavy amps and pedals and embrace a new era of convenience and creativity. I wholeheartedly recommend this product to anyone looking to elevate their practice sessions or simply enjoy playing their guitar with ease and exceptional sound quality. Happy playing!

I’ve been anticipating a product like this for nearly ten years. This device is incredibly straightforward, yet remarkably powerful. The sound quality is excellent, and it connects effortlessly with just your phone and a pair of headphones. Huge thanks to Fender for creating this fantastic device!

Without a doubt, this is the best purchase I’ve made in quite a while. The Mustang Micro Plus (MMP) is an incredible tool that offers everything I wished the previous version had. I own various foot pedals, but this device and its app provide half of what I have for just a fraction of the price. If you’re looking to practice while traveling, during work breaks, or at unconventional times, this is an essential item. It’s affordable, operates flawlessly, boasts a long battery life, and offers numerous options—just like Apple claims, it simply works. I enjoyed the original Mustang Micro, but it had its limitations. Don’t get me wrong, if I had the chance to lead Fender for a day, I’d suggest some improvements and ideas, but overall, this product is fantastic!

Ideal for practicing without disturbing your surroundings. It offers nearly as many adjustments as a traditional amplifier. All positive feedback, highly recommended without hesitation. Fender says it all!

This is an excellent practice tool for those of us who primarily use headphones. The effects sound quite good, making it suitable for practice sessions. It also accommodates bass guitars. The Bluetooth connectivity is smooth, allowing you to stream from YouTube or Spotify for play-along sessions.

One feature I wish it had is the ability to control effects via the Fender Tone app. While the app is designed for the GT and GTX series amps, it would have been great to have that functionality for the Micro as well. Adjusting effects using the buttons on the device can be a bit awkward, though a handy cheat sheet is included to help. It would have been fantastic if the app offered favorites or presets for easy switching, rather than relying on multiple button presses. Nonetheless, for what it is, this product is a fantastic investment for late-night practice sessions.

I’ve included a photo showing how it looks on a Strat, in case anyone is curious about the fit.

Amazing! I’m truly impressed by the build quality and versatility of this amp. It’s fantastic—when paired with a good headphone (in my case, the HD650), it produces excellent tones and allows for practice anywhere. The Bluetooth feature makes playback a breeze, as you can easily stream from your phone without any issues. Highly recommend!

As a 36-year-old father who enjoys playing bass during my limited free time, I was searching for a headphone amp to connect to my iPad for Yousician. This product has exceeded my expectations. It’s incredibly simple to use—just plug it into your guitar or bass, connect your headphones, and link it to your iPad, phone, or computer with a USB cable. Make sure to select the input device as Fender Mustang, pair it via Bluetooth for audio in your headphones, and you’re all set. No more tangled cables running from my PC to an audio interface to an amp—just two cables!

The sound quality is fantastic, especially with various bass cabinet settings, and adding effects enhances the experience. I play a MM Stingray, and tweaking through different models and effects to find my signature tone is a breeze. The price is unbeatable for what this amp offers. Now, I can easily head to the park to practice or jam to my favorite music without lugging around a ton of gear.

    Pros:

    • Compact design with numerous amp models and effects
    • Easy to modify and switch effects
    • Seamless functionality on iPad, PC, and Android (all tested)
    • Amazing sound quality for bass
    • Convenient effect adjustments
    • Impressive battery life
    • USB-C compatibility
    • Solid build quality

    Cons:

    • Some effects are combined, and I wish for the option to select single effects instead.

    Honestly, that’s my only complaint.
