Durable and thick enough to safeguard the phone while remaining crystal clear. It beautifully showcases the phone’s color. This is exactly what I needed. Although the company’s name appears on the side, it’s discreet and doesn’t block anything. Excellent quality at a very fair price.
Nice taste. –
The camera is impressive, and the hardware operates quickly with no noticeable lag. However, while trying to store it back in its original box, I mistakenly thought it had a hinge to facilitate easy access. Unfortunately, when it fell just a couple of inches onto a wooden surface, it left a tiny scuff on the silver plastic, which was disappointing given the quality I expected. I had imagined it would be more durable, especially considering the fall was onto wood and not a harder surface. I wonder if I should have purchased a case protector? It feels like this phone is going to show wear and tear with regular use. My monitor got scratched from a minor incident, and my desk has seen better days too. If you’re concerned about durability, you might either consider spending less for quality photos or invest in a case protector—though that feels like a necessity after the fact.
Despite the high price tag, these devices seem prone to scratches. After a few days, I can confirm that the camera is excellent, but I wish the video capture quality was better. Cameras often look better in person than on video, which can lead to a disappointing experience if your appearance doesn’t translate well on screen. This technology does have its limitations, as real-life interactions tend to be more appealing than the captured images. For still photos, they surpass video quality.
Looking closely at the image quality, particularly for daytime photos, it seems to fall short compared to IMAX standards, and the 4K video capture didn’t meet my expectations for cinematic quality. I wouldn’t rely on this device for high-caliber filming. When comparing video quality to others, mine appeared slightly out of focus, which might have been due to my panning technique rather than a fundamental flaw in the camera. There was some motion blur, but overall, the quality remained decent.
For distant shots, I found myself craving better image quality. While this phone produces superior images compared to lower-priced smartphones, the differences are marginal. The selfies are indeed better, but they also portray completely different interpretations of faces. You may find that someone looks better with a different phone, which is quite interesting.
After using the phone long enough to consider a case protector, I feel that if I were less careful, I would definitely need one. For now, I’m okay using the original box for storage, but it could benefit from a case protector or another storage solution. It feels like an unnecessary expense until I’m certain it needs one, but I do sense that it might be required down the line. I don’t want to risk damage, and I’m already noticing it’s not ideal for fast movements. A case protector seems wise as a precaution.
I observed that the camera struggles with photos involving distance, particularly with leaves or bright sunlight, and doesn’t outperform a budget smartphone in those situations. While it works for most images, it still falls short for someone serious about photography. I’m contemplating upgrading based on my experience, as the detail captured isn’t quite what I had hoped for.
After significant use, I find myself yearning for higher-quality images. The close-up photos are satisfactory, and even the distance shots can be decent, yet when compared to the best cameras, there’s a noticeable drop in quality. It’s tough to match the clarity of real life. I realized that professional photography typically requires superior equipment, like a PhaseOne, with smartphones like Huawei and Pixel producing remarkable images, albeit with different file sizes.
One complication I encountered when previewing larger non-smartphone cameras was the overwhelming number of settings and options, making smartphones the more user-friendly choice for taking photos. However, the desire for higher-quality images lingers.
When I attempted to zoom in on photos, they became blurry, even from just two feet away, indicating a need for better quality. Zooming in seemed crucial, but for macro shots, the detail still felt lacking.
While the overall image quality is good, it lacks depth; the pictures feel flat. The high-megapixel cameras offer the right detail level, but this camera still needs more detail, especially for distant shots.
After evaluating the photos, I’m disappointed that the clarity you’d expect from high-quality cameras or the human eye isn’t there. Zooming in does improve the view, but at 94% and beyond, the images lose clarity—at 146%, the background looks painted; at 200%+, the focus is completely lost. Close-up photos are satisfactory, but there’s still an issue with the camera focusing correctly, suggesting the need for a tripod or stabilizer.
I also noticed a slight issue with photos taken during cloudy, rainy weather; some turned out blurred and had a noticeable white film upon zooming in. This limited the quality of those shots, though thankfully, it wasn’t a widespread problem.

I purchased this phone to replace my Pixel 6, which had been giving me issues. I took advantage of a Cyber Monday deal that saved me $100 on an unlocked device. Transferring my data from my old phone was a breeze. This model offers several new features, including AI capabilities. I’m really enjoying my new phone so far, and the camera quality is excellent. Overall, I’m very pleased with my purchase, and the price was definitely a steal.

I purchased this phone primarily for its color, and I must say, I’m truly impressed. It’s an excellent device!

I upgraded from the Pixel 4a to the Pixel 8a, and I couldn’t be happier with my choice!

The phone arrived on time and in flawless condition. I was pleasantly surprised by how simple it was to transfer everything from my VERY OLD Galaxy S8 to the Pixel 8a. I expected some issues with the two devices connecting, but my worries were completely unfounded. The transfer process took about 10 minutes, and I was up and running in no time. I did encounter a minor hiccup with syncing Messenger, but after a quick restart, everything worked perfectly. I’ve only had the phone for a day, but I’m really pleased with my purchase so far. It’s a significant upgrade from my VERY OLD phone (did I mention it was VERY OLD?) and at a fantastic sale price of $399! I highly recommend it.

I really adore this phone! It’s quick and captures amazing photos. The only thing I wish for is a bigger size, as the screen feels smaller than what I’m accustomed to. Nonetheless, I’m still a huge fan! ❤️

I’ve been using the Pixel 8a for about six months after upgrading from the Pixel 5a, mainly due to the latter’s support supposedly coming to an end. I took advantage of a sale on the 8a and jumped at the chance. Here’s how the 8a compares to the 5a, keeping in mind that I really liked the 5a.
Battery Life: The 5a edges out slightly here. I’m not sure about the mAh difference, but the 5a generally held a charge longer. That said, the 8a still gets me through the day without much hassle.
Screen: The 8a has a slight advantage. Its display is a bit crisper, and both screens are quite good overall. However, the 8a’s screen is marginally smaller.
Camera: The 8a wins decisively. While the 5a took decent photos, the 8a performs even better, especially in low light. The AI editing feature on the 8a is also a nice bonus.
Charging: This is a mixed bag. The 5a charged faster, though it didn’t have Turbo charging. I appreciate the wireless charging feature on the 8a, which the 5a lacked. After two years with the 5a, the charging port became a bit loose, so wireless charging should help avoid that issue.
Performance: The 8a is faster. The 5a wasn’t slow, but the 8a feels snappier.
Headphone Jack: The 5a wins this one because it has a headphone jack, while the 8a does not. Most of my headphones are wireless, but I still occasionally use wired ones. An adapter works fine for the 8a, though.
Fingerprint Reader: The 5a takes the lead here, which is why I deducted a star. The 5a’s rear fingerprint reader was reliable almost every time (except with wet fingers). The 8a’s in-screen reader works less than half the time and is generally less accurate. Adding a screen protector makes the fingerprint reader nearly useless, even after resetting the scans. It feels like a design oversight, possibly influenced by marketing rather than engineering practicality. Out of frustration, I started using the face unlock feature, which works reasonably well but struggles with sunglasses or dim lighting, forcing me to enter my PIN more often.
Overall, the 8a is a solid phone for its price, offering most features found in more expensive models. However, the fingerprint sensor needs a significant upgrade—either revert to a rear-mounted option or enhance its reliability and compatibility with screen protectors.

This Google Pixel is incredible in every aspect—from the interface and camera to the battery life and beyond. It’s user-friendly and a pleasure to use. The only minor drawback is that it can get a bit warm depending on the usage, but this doesn’t affect the battery life.
