I purchased this Chromebook as an inexpensive option for browsing the internet while traveling, thinking it wouldn’t be a major loss if it got damaged or stolen. To my surprise, it has become my primary laptop, even with a gaming MSI and a Nitro17 in my collection.

This laptop primarily serves as my travel companion. I primarily use it for browsing, watching YouTube, Netflix, and occasionally checking Gmail, so my needs are quite basic. It’s not a powerhouse—while it boots up quickly as a Chromebook should, you can definitely tell it’s not a top-tier model, but that’s to be expected given the price.
Considering the cost, everything I mention is in that context. The display is impressive; I would have concerns if this were a $1000 device. The camera works well, and the battery life is significantly improved compared to my previous Chromebooks. The keyboard is decent, though it feels a bit wide compared to what I’m used to from other Chromebooks and my work laptop, making it necessary for me to look at the keys while typing. But as I mentioned, I mainly use it for watching videos!
I typically buy a new Chromebook every two years and pass my old ones to family, and I have no doubt that this will be a fantastic travel laptop for the next two years.

My previous laptop started malfunctioning a while ago, and I purchased a portable BD/DVD player last spring to compensate for the inability to play discs. Eventually, that laptop failed completely, so I decided to buy this device to stream movies from services that my small tablet couldn’t access via a web browser. It works perfectly for streaming, as well as for services that have dedicated apps on this device. The picture quality is excellent, and the sound is decent at maximum volume.
For those who might find this information useful: the name listed on Amazon seems to be inaccurate. I used the serial number to verify it on the Lenovo website, and it turns out to be the IP Slim 3 Chrome 14M868 – Type 82XJ. The warranty lasts until 10/24/25 (I purchased it on 1/4/25, so it offers over 10 years). Additionally, updates will continue until June 2033, which suggests this model may not be the latest Lenovo Chromebook. That’s just the reality of the unit I received. You can find the serial number by pressing Alt+V at the Start Screen.

I bought this as a daily-use gift for my wife. The initial setup was straightforward, and it has been functioning perfectly for her since then.

Simple but effective; it covers the essentials nicely.

I have purchased numerous Chromebooks for clients who require dependable, durable, and efficient devices. Over time, we have identified the best options and brands, and Lenovo stands out for its excellent quality at a competitive price. This model is the most affordable option in Lenovo’s Chromebook line and features a 14″ touchscreen, which many similarly priced alternatives from other brands lack.
Both this model and its predecessor meet the demands of a hospital environment. They are used frequently, charged daily, and endure drops, spills, and regular antiseptic cleaning. In my experience with Chromebook repairs, I encounter far fewer issues with these than with other brands, and most problems arise from extreme misuse.
There are a few drawbacks, but most are common across all Chromebooks, such as limited accessory options like protective cases and compatible pens, necessary OS improvements that Lenovo cannot influence, and the fact that Lenovo is a Chinese-owned company (which raises HIPAA considerations for me). Nevertheless, this model has consistently been our preferred choice for quite some time.

It’s not truly a touchscreen, and it can be a bit slow to boot up certain games, but once it’s running, it performs well. It handles everything else quickly and has a clean, sleek design.
