Review of the Logitech MX Brio Ultra HD 4K Collaboration and Streaming Webcam

The Logitech MX Brio Ultra HD 4K Collaboration and Streaming Webcam has made a significant mark in the realm of professional video streaming and conferencing. With its cutting-edge technology and thoughtful design, it aims to enhance the quality of virtual interactions for professionals, educators, and streamers alike. Below, we delve into the features, performance, and overall user experience of this versatile webcam.

Design and Build Quality

Sleek Aesthetics

The Logitech MX Brio features a modern and elegant design in a graphite color that complements most setups. Its compact dimensions of 5.5 x 5.5 x 2.63 inches and lightweight profile (13 ounces) make it easy to place on various surfaces, including monitors and desks. The aluminum body gives it a premium feel, enhancing durability while maintaining a sleek aesthetic.

Versatile Mounting Options

The webcam comes with a magnetic mount that securely attaches to monitors, but some users have found it slightly lacking compared to older models that had a more reliable grip. Additionally, the MX Brio is compatible with standard tripods, which expands its usability beyond desk-mounted applications. However, the adhesive mount has received mixed reviews, with some users facing issues with stability.

Performance

Impressive Video Quality

One of the standout features of the MX Brio is its ability to stream in Ultra HD 4K resolution at 30 frames per second or in 1080p at 60 frames per second. Users have reported that the webcam delivers exceptional clarity and sharpness, making it ideal for video conferencing, streaming, and content creation. The advanced sensor features 70% larger pixels, providing enhanced image quality even in challenging lighting conditions.

AI-Enhanced Features

The webcam incorporates AI-driven enhancements, such as auto-exposure, auto white balance, and noise reduction, which significantly improve face visibility and detail in low-light situations. Many users have noted how these features allow for better performance during video calls, eliminating the need for additional lighting setups.

Adjustable Settings

The Logitech software provides users with fine control over camera settings, including ISO, shutter speed, tint, and vibrance. This level of customization is a boon for users who want to curate their image and ensure optimal video quality based on their environment. The software is user-friendly and integrates seamlessly with popular video conferencing platforms like Zoom and Microsoft Teams.

Audio Quality

Dual Noise-Reducing Microphones

The MX Brio is equipped with dual beamforming microphones designed to minimize background noise. Feedback from users has indicated that voice clarity is remarkably enhanced, ensuring that conversations remain clear and intelligible. However, some users have pointed out that while the microphone quality is satisfactory, they have achieved better results with dedicated external mics.

Unique Features

Show Mode

A standout feature of the MX Brio is the Show Mode, which allows users to tilt the camera down to share notes or sketches on their desk. This is particularly beneficial for educators and professionals who need to present physical documents or materials during calls.

Privacy Features

In an age where privacy is paramount, the MX Brio includes a built-in webcam cover that rotates to block the camera when not in use. This feature has received positive feedback for its practicality, offering peace of mind for users concerned about unwanted surveillance.

Compatibility and Integration

The MX Brio is compatible with a variety of operating systems, including Windows, macOS, Chrome OS, and Linux. It is certified for popular meeting applications such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, and Streamlabs, ensuring that users can enjoy a hassle-free setup regardless of their platform of choice.

User Experiences

High Praise from Professionals

Many users have lauded the MX Brio for its outstanding performance in professional settings. Educators and corporate professionals have highlighted the webcam’s superior video quality, which has transformed their virtual presentations and meetings. Feedback suggests that users feel more confident in their appearance during calls, thanks to the high-resolution output.

Minor Drawbacks

While the webcam has garnered extensive praise, it is not without its drawbacks. Some users have experienced challenges with the software, particularly regarding firmware updates and integration issues. Additionally, the adhesive mount’s performance has drawn criticism, leading some to opt for alternative mounting solutions.

Overall Rating: 4.4/5

Taking into account the features, performance, and user feedback, the Logitech MX Brio Ultra HD 4K Collaboration and Streaming Webcam earns an overall rating of 4.4 out of 5. Its strengths in video quality, AI enhancements, and user-friendly design make it an excellent choice for anyone looking to upgrade their virtual communication experience. Although there are minor concerns regarding mounting options and software integration, the benefits significantly outweigh these drawbacks, solidifying the MX Brio as a top contender in the webcam market.

Final Thoughts

Its unique features, along with its sleek design and exceptional performance, make it a reliable choice for professionals, educators, and content creators alike. As a music tutor, I purchased the Logitech MX Brio to enhance the visual quality of my Zoom sessions. While the built-in webcam on my iMac is decent, its narrow coverage—similar to a 50mm lens (46 degrees)—forces me to position myself further back so that students can see my entire guitar. However, the MX Brio offers adjustable coverage at 90, 78, and 65 degrees, making it significantly wider and resolving my issue. The mount works well once I figured it out, and I appreciate the ability to swivel and angle it without needing to adjust my monitor. The build quality is impressive, with an aluminum shell rather than plastic.

Since I already own a Blue Yeti mic, I had G Hub installed, which promptly notified me that a firmware update for the MX Brio was necessary to operate. Unfortunately, the update kept failing in G Hub. I found Logitech’s website frustrating to navigate, encountering broken links and irrelevant pages, which made me consider returning the Brio to Amazon. Fortunately, I stumbled upon the Logi Options app in a YouTube video. After installing it, the firmware update finally succeeded. If you don’t own a Blue Yeti mic, I recommend skipping G Hub and using Logi Options for the MX Brio.

The image quality of the MX Brio is a noticeable improvement over the iMac webcam—sharper, more detailed, and wider—but I expected a more significant upgrade. Even with a bright LED ring light above my computer, details appear somewhat smeared on my 5K monitor, with noticeable grain artifacts in Zoom and OBS. The video quality doesn’t match that of my iPhone and is lightyears away from my Canon EOS R6 MK II. For video tutorials, I’ll continue using my Canon and reserve the MX Brio for Zoom sessions.

The built-in microphones on the MX Brio have plenty of gain but sound terrible—hollow, bright, and overly compressed. Strangely, Logi Options lacks audio adjustments, only offering video settings. You have to manage gain through System Settings, but EQ, compression, limiter, and noise reduction controls are absent. Thankfully, the MX Brio pairs well with the Blue Yeti mic, ensuring I sound better than I look! Audio and video sync well, but remember to select the Blue Yeti in various apps, as it defaults to the poor-quality Brio microphones.

Logitech’s software—G Hub and Logi Options—functions adequately on Mac, but the design prioritizes a trendy appearance over user-friendly access to features and functions, which can be counterintuitive.

Lastly, Logitech should include a paper “quick start” guide with printed links to a dedicated MX Brio page with tutorials and software instructions. This would provide users with a clear plan instead of aimlessly searching online.

I’ve had a positive experience with Logitech cameras in the past, and this one is no exception. It’s well-constructed, and the picture quality is excellent. I’ve been using it daily for my Teams calls, and it performs flawlessly. While it’s on the pricier side, it definitely delivers.

As a learning and development professional, I rely on Zoom and Teams every day. I previously used the Logitech HD webcam, but this new camera is a significant upgrade. I can easily adjust the zoom to showcase body language techniques at a wide angle or focus in during debrief sessions. The resolution is impressive, even in low-light conditions, making it a notable improvement for challenging lighting scenarios.

The 4K option is fantastic! I used it for recording during Zoom calls, and the picture quality was excellent. Unfortunately, Zoom didn’t keep the recording quality consistent, so I’ll make sure to isolate the camera recording next time. Overall, the camera performed well on both Mac and PC.

I feel like a stunning 4K golden god next to my colleagues with their mediocre webcams. The only drawback of this camera is that I need to use a lint roller on my shirts to remove dog hair before meetings, as its detail is so impressive it picks up everything. I used to have the Logitech C920x, and this camera outperforms it in every aspect—sound, video quality, and lighting.

I purchased this webcam about a week ago, and it has been performing excellently so far. As someone who frequently holds meetings in my home office, I was growing frustrated with my laptop’s built-in camera, especially since my laptop is usually docked all day.

I finally decided to invest in this external webcam, and I’m thrilled with my choice. The video quality is impressive, and the microphone works well for most of my meetings. One of the standout features is that it can be mounted on a standard tripod. I’ve been using a portable tripod I originally bought for my phone, and it works perfectly. This allows me to easily set it up on my desk. The monitor mount is sturdy and high-quality, and the magnetic feature is a nice bonus, though I probably won’t be using it.

Another advantage is its compatibility with three different Logitech software suites, allowing you to choose what feels most convenient for you. I particularly enjoy using the Logitech G suite, which integrates seamlessly.

While it doesn’t support facial recognition for my computer, that’s not a concern for me.

Overall, I’m very pleased with this webcam and look forward to my meetings as a technical IT consultant, where I can present much more effectively now.

I recently purchased the Logitech MX Brio Ultra HD 4K Collaboration and Streaming Webcam, which offers 1080p at 60 FPS and features dual noise-reducing microphones. It wasn’t the cheapest item, and it arrived in a carton alongside three other products. I wanted to share my initial thoughts before setting it up later this week. When I opened the box, everything was rattling around, and there was no padding to protect the items. I’m hoping there’s no damage to the webcam. However, after setting it up, I’m pleased to report that everything is in perfect condition. The webcam is functioning well, and I attribute this to the sturdy packaging that Logitech uses. Overall, I’m a happy customer!

I absolutely love it! It really enhances my appearance for Zoom meetings, and everyone is complimenting how great I look. Seriously, give it a try—it’s fantastic!

I’m currently using this camera with Microsoft Teams alongside a Jabra Speak 750, and the combination works excellently. The video quality during Teams calls is exceptional. I’ve tested both the camera’s microphones and the Jabra’s, and most people have noted minimal differences in sound quality. While the Jabra does offer slight noise reduction benefits, I don’t think it justifies purchasing it separately, especially since I already had the Jabra when I bought the Brio. The Logi software made setup a breeze, allowing me to adjust the field of view to focus on a specific area of my office. My favorite feature is the shutter; it’s much easier to open and close compared to previous Brios, and closing it automatically disables the camera in Teams. The camera mounts securely on my 34″ curved monitor, and using the shutter doesn’t shift it at all. Although this camera is on the pricier side, I believe it’s worth the investment.

The Logitech MX Brio Ultra HD 4K is an outstanding webcam that delivers remarkable performance with a stylish, well-crafted design. The video quality is crisp and clear, making it ideal for professional applications. Unfortunately, I had to return it due to the unsatisfactory adhesive on the mounting option. I wanted to place it on top of my lightbar, but the sticky component didn’t adhere well and felt unreliable. If you don’t intend to use the adhesive mount, it’s definitely a solid choice.

    Alexandre

This camera delivers outstanding performance and resembles a DSLR. I couldn’t be happier with it—it’s three times better than the 2017 Brio 4K.

  12. Rated 4 out of 5

    Derek Munro

The camera performs well. The Logi Options+ software is effective, but it’s puzzling that there are no microphone adjustments available—only for the camera. The software also sets the parameters for meeting apps, which can be modified during a call. The close shutter function is a nice feature; however, it would be helpful to have a manual off option for the microphone—unplugging it is the best alternative in that case.

The USB-C cable feels quite industrial, and it would be beneficial to include a USB-C to USB-A adapter. While the product claims tripod compatibility, note that the camera is magnetically attached to the stand. To access the screw mount, you need to pull it up, which also allows for easy removal of the protective tape.

It fits well on a monitor, though I doubt it’s suitable for a laptop without a mini desk tripod. I’m not a fan of the ‘sticky’ pad compared to the rubberized grip found on older Logitech cameras. Additionally, the serial number on the camera does not match the one on the sealed box I received.

Registering the camera provides access to a digital manual. Lastly, I had a frustrating experience with Amazon, as they initially sent me an already opened box, which only added to the issue of the mismatched serial numbers.

I’ve been using this for a few months, and as someone who works from home and participates in numerous video conferences, I can say the resolution is the best I’ve encountered. The camera controls are incredibly useful, and I love the feature that allows me to control my lighting through the Logitech software.
