I reside in Spain and wanted a reliable brand, so I decided to buy this Zojirushi. (Note that it comes with an American plug, but they include a converter.) Unfortunately, the product didn’t function as expected, and I encountered some challenges. However, the seller was extremely helpful during the entire process! Ultimately, I had to return the product, but I appreciated the excellent service I received from the seller. 🙂

I’ve had this rice cooker for about three years, and I use it frequently for various types of rice. It’s incredibly user-friendly, easy to clean, and consistently delivers perfectly cooked rice without the mess often associated with cheaper models. While it’s not the least expensive option, the hassle-free results and durability make it worth the investment. I appreciate both the design and functionality of this appliance, and I even enjoy the little tunes it plays. Having lived in several Asian countries and cooking a lot of Asian dishes, I’ve tried cooking Thai jasmine, basmati, short grain Japanese, and more, and they all turn out just right—just a slight adjustment in water ratios is needed depending on the type of rice. This machine seems quite forgiving; I’ve never had a bad batch. A pleasant surprise was discovering that it can cook Thai sticky rice perfectly on the sweet mode with a reduced water ratio, and without the need to soak it beforehand! Previously, the only method that worked was steaming soaked rice for hours. If you cook rice often, this rice cooker will not disappoint. It’s truly one of the few products I’ve purchased that is absolutely perfect.

Extremely easy to use. It comes with an instruction manual in both English and Japanese, which clearly explains the function of each button and includes some recipes. It’s lightweight and attractive. It features a “made in Japan” label. Everything mentioned in the description is included. The cord is retractable. It keeps rice warm for days (I know that’s not ideal), but it doesn’t get damaged and maintains an excellent texture. Great product quality. I am very happy with my purchase.

I appreciate a good bowl of rice, but I’m not keen on spending too much time in the kitchen. For years, I relied on a standard electric rice cooker, but I was often let down by its inconsistency, even though it was convenient. The Zojirushi NS-ZCC10 was pricier than I had hoped, but it has proven to be worth every penny. The advancements in this cooker compared to my previous one were surprising.

    • It only takes me 3 minutes to start cooking the rice, and 2 of those minutes are spent washing it.
    • Cleaning the cooker takes just 2 minutes once I’m finished.
    • The rice turns out perfectly every time (including sushi rice) and maintains its quality even if I leave it in the pot for an hour or more after cooking.
    • Another fantastic feature is the ability to program it to start cooking hours in advance, ensuring the rice is ready exactly when I need it. This sophisticated appliance truly lives up to its reputation.

Follow-up 9 months later: This has become my favorite kitchen gadget. It consistently produces perfect rice (I mostly make sushi rice but also cook basmati at least once a month). It takes just 2 minutes to start and 2 minutes to clean and put away. For most meals, I set it up earlier in the day and program it to be ready right when I want to serve dinner — and it’s always on time. Highly recommended!

Unfortunately, the device didn’t meet my specific requirements. Upon realizing this, the seller promptly processed my cancellation and kept me updated on the progress. I truly appreciated their attentive customer service.

I have a tendency to skip meals, often prioritizing other activities like sleeping in. As a result, I usually don’t feel hungry until I’m already feeling unwell, at which point I experience sudden, intense hunger. This is especially challenging for me since I’m quite thin. When I don’t follow a regular eating schedule, I lose focus and feel off balance. Therefore, it’s crucial for me to make my meals as efficient, cost-effective, and convenient as possible.

Enter Operation Breakfast 2.0. I wanted to devise a way to have breakfast ready for me as soon as I woke up so I could eat quickly and start my day. Initially, I tried protein bars. They worked decently, but the chalky taste became tiresome over time, and they felt heavy in my stomach. Once I got braces, I couldn’t bite into them anymore. I ended up cutting them up and sucking on the pieces to soften them, which proved to be just as inconvenient as making a traditional breakfast.

Next, I experimented with protein shakes, but they were just awful. No matter how I tried to mask the flavor of the protein powder, it always made me feel nauseous. I tried several brands, each more unpalatable than the last. Following that, I turned to smoothies. They tasted better but lacked adequate protein and other essential nutrients, primarily consisting of fruit and sugar, which led to a quick energy crash a few hours later.

I then combined fruit with calorie supplements. While they had a tolerable taste, each product had various adverse effects on my health, ranging from diarrhea to constipation, reminding me of the previous breakfast failures.

    Finally, I believe I’ve found a solution with Breakfast 2.0. Here’s what I use:

    • A programmable rice cooker: I opted for the Zojirushi NS-ZCC10 5-1/2-Cup Neuro Fuzzy Rice Cooker after reading glowing reviews from those who really understand rice. This cooker is fantastic, allowing me to set multiple timers. It even plays different tunes when cooking starts and finishes!

    • Pre-cooked, frozen fajita-style chicken strips: I found these in the frozen section of the grocery store. Though I could grill my own chicken, I prefer these pre-packaged strips for their flavor and the assurance of sanitary preparation.

    • Store brand garden vegetable mix: I use generic frozen vegetables, which I find just as good as organic ones. My mix usually includes corn, carrots, broccoli, and some green beans.

    • Regular rice: Just plain, medium grain rice from the store.

    • Half a can of cream of mushroom soup: This serves as a flavorful base. I might try other soups for variety down the line.

    • Water: Straight from the tap.

When preparing my meal, I always wash the rice thoroughly, using a Japanese measuring cup for accuracy. I rinse until the water runs clear to avoid any issues with the rice cooker. I fill the cooker pan above the 1-cup water mark, add the rice, frozen vegetables, soup, and chicken, following a specific order for optimal cooking.

By the morning, everything is thawed and ready to cook. The rice cooker starts an hour before I wake up, ensuring a warm, delicious meal awaits me. It automatically switches to warm mode when cooking is done and keeps my food hot until I’m ready to eat. This setup makes breakfast incredibly easy: I just dump it into a bowl and dig in.

As a result, I’m now eating breakfast consistently, leading to greater productivity and less malaise throughout the day.

I’ve had this rice cooker for just a week, and in that time, I’ve prepared two pots of white rice, a pot of brown rice, and several batches of steel-cut oatmeal. This has quickly become one of my best and most practical purchases. I’ve known about rice cookers for ages, but I never thought I’d use one much. I used to make decent rice on the stovetop and didn’t cook it often enough to justify the space in my small kitchen. However, after hearing about how a friend uses hers to keep brown rice on hand and prepares quick weeknight meals with veggies and protein, I started to reconsider. I also wanted to incorporate brown rice into my dinners more frequently but avoided it due to the lengthy stovetop cooking time.

I dove into research (I tend to thoroughly investigate all my cookware and appliances). For my needs—cooking brown rice, oatmeal, and other grains—a fuzzy logic model seemed ideal. Before finalizing my purchase, I downloaded “The Ultimate Rice Cooker Cookbook” to explore recipes beyond just rice. The variety and simplicity of the recipes impressed me, prompting me to make the leap. After examining various models on Amazon and other sites, customer reviews led me to believe that Zojirushi was the right brand. Initially, I considered a 3-cup model for myself and my husband, but after looking through the cookbook, I opted for the 5.5-cup version for added versatility, especially when hosting friends.

Several fuzzy logic models caught my eye, but the Nero fuzzy model stood out after comparing them on the Zojirushi site. The abundance of 5-star reviews on Amazon sealed the deal, especially since the price was significantly lower than on other cookware websites.

In short, I couldn’t be happier with this product. Every rice dish I’ve made has turned out perfectly fluffy, and the oatmeal is exceptional. The controls are user-friendly, and I had no trouble understanding the manual, despite its translation quirks. My favorite feature is the timer function, which allows me to set up brown rice in the morning to have it ready when I return from work, and prepare oatmeal at night for a warm, nutritious breakfast when I wake up. Unlike traditional timers that require you to set when cooking starts, the Neuro Fuzzy lets me program when I want the food to be ready. I’m not sure how it figures out when to begin cooking, but its electronic brain does, and that brings me great joy.

Lastly, the bowl and lid are a breeze to clean, making me a very satisfied customer.
