This product is quite rich, and unfortunately, it caused my dog to experience projectile diarrhea in just the second week, putting him at risk for pancreatitis, so we had to discontinue use. On a positive note, we did see some subtle improvements while he was on it. Additionally, it’s important to note that Myos needs to be refrigerated, even though this isn’t mentioned on the bottle. Overall, I believe it’s a great product if your dog can tolerate its richness.

Great product, but I was disappointed to see the price drop by $8 just a day after I placed my order!

This product has been a game changer for my older dog who struggled with getting up and walking. While it doesn’t provide pain relief, I’ve noticed that my dog seems to be pain-free now that he has regained his strength. Remarkably, all of this improvement happened in just one week of use.

After my dog broke the growth plate in her leg at six months old and had pins inserted, I discovered this product on social media and decided to try it as a muscle supplement since one of her legs was significantly weaker. I’ve purchased it multiple times now and use it daily. She loves the taste, and I’ve noticed a significant improvement in her leg, as shown in the picture. With this supplement, her leg can handle more activity without needing prescribed anti-inflammatory medication. I recently ran out and thought about skipping it to save some money, but within weeks, I found myself back at the vet with a limping dog needing more meds. I restarted her on two scoops a day, and since then, we haven’t had any issues. Her leg now withstands two long walks and chasing after a ball with ease while taking this supplement.

After my hound injured a tendon, my vet suggested this product since surgery wasn’t feasible. With a combination of diet, supplements, and Myos, his leg has recovered remarkably! My vet is thrilled with his progress.

January Update – I’ve increased my rating to 4 stars due to the outstanding customer service from MYOS. With their assistance, we’re continuing to use Fortetropin in hopes of enhancing our dog’s quality of life. We’re not looking to make our dog immortal; the reality is they don’t stay with us long enough. Our main focus is to ensure comfort as he ages and to maintain his mobility. We don’t have a clear diagnosis for the muscle loss in his back legs, which is more pronounced than in his front legs. However, I believe this product significantly supports dogs recovering from surgery or illness, and I encourage others to give it a try! For chronic conditions, I think the best approach is to aim for comfort and to slow the decline. That’s what we’re hoping for, and I’ll keep updating you. A big thank you to MYOS for their support and excellent service.
Tip: I’ve found that Fortetropin mixes best with canned food that has no gravy or liquid. Its texture resembles coarse parmesan cheese, so it blends better with “pâté” style dog food. It has no flavor or smell, and our dog doesn’t even notice it’s in his food (otherwise, he’d refuse it). If your dog eats kibble, add warm water to soften it (dogs love it, plus hydration is crucial) and then sprinkle Fortetropin on top. I’ve also mixed a spoonful of high-flavor canned food (just for fun, not part of his regular diet) with Fortetropin to create meatballs when he was on a prescription food that was somewhat soupy.
January Update – We were uncertain about continuing, but we’ve decided to persist with Fortetropin, staying hopeful for more significant improvements. It’s worth mentioning that our dog has not worsened since starting this product. So far, improvements have been minimal, but as we keep using Fortetropin, I plan to involve our veterinarian to help document any changes, which I’ll share here. I see many others reviewing this product with similar hopes, and I believe it’s important to share our experiences. I still recommend giving this product a chance, as it might work better for certain conditions than others. Stay hopeful! 🙂
We just finished our first container of this product. My 12-year-old collie has experienced declining muscle control in his back legs over the past few years, reaching a point where nutritional support, medication, and supplements are necessary. He hasn’t been diagnosed with Degenerative Myelopathy; we suspect it’s related to a spinal condition. The muscle atrophy is significant, especially in his front legs, which are doing much of the work to support his body right now.
Pros: It didn’t upset his stomach, it was easy to mix into his food, and there may be a very slight increase in muscle mass.
Cons: It’s quite expensive. I don’t think trying this product was a waste of time or money, and I’d encourage others to give it a shot (it can’t hurt). In our case, though, the improvement hasn’t been substantial enough for me to rush out and buy a second container. I’m still considering it. I would rate it 3.5 stars right now, but I’ll adjust the rating if we see more noticeable improvements.

I highly recommend this product! I’ve encouraged all my friends involved in conformation and dog shows to try it for their dogs. My girl has developed impressive muscle thanks to this, along with physical therapy and hydrotherapy. She’s also achieving her best times in bikejoring!

I noticed an improvement in my dog’s quality of life, as she has a weak hind leg, but unfortunately, this product went bad within a week and developed a foul smell. My dog refused to eat the remaining small size, so I discarded it. I then opened the large size I had ordered, but it also went bad and caused my dog to have severe diarrhea. I had to stop giving it to her since she wouldn’t eat it and was dealing with diarrhea. I’m unsure if this product needs to be refrigerated after opening, as there are no instructions on the label. I’ve since switched to Glucosamine from Daily Essentials, and I’ve seen a significant improvement; my dog can now complete her full daily walks. Sometimes, bad experiences lead to better outcomes.

This product is a true game-changer for senior dogs. It’s best to start them on it while they’re still healthy to help prevent muscle loss as they age, or to aid recovery after surgery. I know the dedicated individual who spent two years getting this product approved for import to Canada, so I only order from here when I can’t get it from her. Her prices are also more affordable.

I was initially skeptical about trying this product because of its high price, but after reading several studies that highlighted its beneficial ingredient, I decided to give it a shot. I recently reordered it, as this is one of the first supplements I’ve noticed making a tangible difference in the muscle tone and bulk of my 13-year-old boxer. He suffered a spinal injury in 2020, which required us to help him relearn how to use three of his legs. Although he managed, he has walked with a tilt since then and has struggled with balance, especially when lifting his leg to pee. Over the past couple of years, I noticed him losing muscle mass and strength in his hind legs, likely due to aging and the injury. However, within a month of using this supplement, I could see a reversal in that loss, and by the time I reached the halfway point of my second container, his rear legs began to regain muscle. They no longer look like skinny chicken legs on a 90-pound dog; they are gradually filling out and gaining strength. This has given him the energy to enjoy longer walks in the yard and navigate the doggie door without needing assistance. I’m very satisfied with this product and the clear results it has provided. I can’t wait for my vet to see him at his upcoming blood test; she’ll be surprised to find he can get up off her slick floor on his own!
