This tool definitely gets hot enough for those with naturally curly hair to achieve a sleek or bouncy look, especially with the right attachments. It’s also suitable for individuals with thick or coarse hair when using the curling barrels. If you’re concerned about safety, perhaps you should reconsider using any hot appliances without adult supervision. The tool comes with a styling guide that suggests the ideal heat settings based on hair type: reduce the heat for finer hair, lower the air for frizzier hair, and increase the heat for thicker, coily hair, and so on. It’s not the responsibility of any hair tool company to determine your hair type for you; it’s common sense to understand your hair before purchasing a tool designed for it. Additionally, just because something doesn’t get hot doesn’t mean it’s better for your hair. Slow cooking can ruin food, and prolonged low heat can damage clothing; the same logic applies to hair.
I initially got the T3 Aire 360, but since this tool was only $20 more and came with a variety of attachments, I had to give it a try for comparison. I styled one side of my hair with the T3 and the other with this tool, and the results were quite similar. The Shark side had more volume but wasn’t as smooth, so I added a bit of Amalfi Gold Hair Serum. The T3 side was smoother but lacked volume, so I held it at the roots longer. However, the T3 brush didn’t reach my roots fully, leaving some waviness that I disliked. The Shark Flexstyle performed exceptionally well; the oval brush attachment got everything, and I could easily touch up hard-to-see areas with the paddle brush without needing a flat iron. The wands work great, and the curls I create last for three days with my method, which is a bit involved but effective. I only need to style twice a week, so I don’t mind the effort. That said, the barrels are shorter than I’d like. I plan to order additional attachments, including thinner barrels, but I’m deducting a full star because other Coanda hair tool manufacturers have recognized the advantages of longer barrels, and Shark still needs to catch up. While the length of the barrels doesn’t improve the curl itself, it certainly makes styling long hair easier, and I have a lot of hair!
Overall, I absolutely love this tool and find all the attachments useful. I’ve even tried the diffuser, although I find curl training and diffusing to be somewhat labor-intensive and time-consuming. Still, it’s fantastic to finally have a tool with a diffuser attachment for when I want to embrace my curls. I highly recommend this tool and hope to see longer barrels in the future!
