After years of using a generic stick vacuum, it finally broke down. This experience taught us two things: 1. These vacuums are essentially disposable since replacement batteries cost nearly as much as the entire unit, and 2. We didn’t need anything overly luxurious. We had previously used a couple of Shark products and were always pleased with their quality and reasonable pricing, which played a significant role in our decision to choose this one.
UNBOXING: The vacuum arrived in a box measuring approximately 2.5′ x 1.5′ x 1.5′. While there was some excess cardboard and space, it was well-packaged to prevent damage during shipping. Unboxing and assembling the vacuum in upright mode took just about 6-7 minutes, and I appreciated the minimal use of plastic, allowing us to recycle over 95% of the packaging.
STORAGE: Initially, I was concerned about storage since we were used to hanging our old vacuum, and this one doesn’t come with a wall-mount system. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find a small rubber “bumper” on the bottom of the handle. When the vacuum is upright against a wall, this bumper effectively prevents it from sliding down and across the pantry floor. It’s the little details that impress me.
USE/FUNCTIONALITY: Marketed as a pet vacuum, we have one very furry cat, so hair control was essential. Fortunately, our main floor has hardwood flooring, which requires less suction than carpets. High speed activates the brush faster for carpeting, and while I tested it on a few carpeted areas, I found it suitable for surface cleaning. I splurged on this vacuum during last year’s Prime Day, and I haven’t looked back since. After researching various stick vacuums, I found this model to be the best value for my needs compared to Dyson and other brands.
In summary, it’s incredibly easy to use, charge, and maintain. It performs effectively, and I would definitely buy it again even if it broke down tomorrow after just a year. Remarkably, it’s still working at about 98% efficiency as it did when I first got it. I waited a year to write this review because I saw many comments about issues cropping up after six months with cordless vacuums, but I have experienced none.
Battery life: I timed my initial use, and it lasted around 40 minutes while switching between hard floor and carpet settings without dying. In the entire time I’ve owned it, it has only run out once or twice when I vacuumed my entire ~3000 sq ft house in one go. Since I typically tackle just one floor at a time, battery life hasn’t been a concern, even on the high-power setting.
Suction and dust cup capacity: Suction is only reduced when the dust collector cup is completely full. With two cats and a dog, I initially had to empty it often, but now I can get through one or two full battery charges without needing to empty it, and the suction remains strong. We use crystal cat litter, which sometimes sticks to my cat’s fur, and this vacuum excels at picking up both litter and fur from the carpet. Plus, emptying the dust cup is a breeze.
Hand vac/crevice tool: Changing attachments is simple. I used to rely on a cheap hand vac for crevices and car cleaning, but this vacuum has replaced that. It’s perfect for getting into tight spaces like couch cushions, car seats, cup holders, and floorboards.
Brush roll: I have long hair and shed a lot, so one of my main concerns was how well the vacuum would handle hair in the brush roll. I made the right choice with this model; even when my hair clogs the brush roll, it keeps rolling without losing effectiveness. Cleaning it out is incredibly easy due to the design of the grooves and bristles. I’ve never had such an easy time with brush roll maintenance, even on vacuums marketed for it.
Downside: The only area for improvement would be the tiny wheels on the front of the vacuum head, which became tangled with fur and debris after just a couple of uses. Unlike the brush roll, this is tough to clean. However, even if the wheels don’t roll anymore, it hasn’t impacted the vacuum’s performance, which is why I’m still giving it five stars.
If you’re considering a stick vacuum: I wholeheartedly recommend making the switch. My partner and I both struggle with depression and ADHD, which makes cleaning challenging. Since getting this vacuum, I’ve vacuumed more in the past year than I have in my entire adult life (I’m 32, and yes, it’s a bit embarrassing!). We keep it conveniently near the kitchen, and its compact size is unobtrusive. Our carpeted stairs used to be a mental and physical challenge, but now I clean them regularly because it’s so easy. We’ve owned multiple full-size “pet” vacuums before, but this model offers equal or better suction power and is far more convenient. Plus, it fits under the couch!

I bought this vacuum to replace my previous cordless model, which barely lasted a couple of years. As a dog owner with two dogs—one being a German Shepherd (or as I like to call him, a German Shedder!)—I needed something more reliable. While I liked my old vacuum, I absolutely love this Shark vacuum so far. I can clean my entire house with bare floors without rushing, as it holds its charge until I’m done. After using it for about five days, I’ve been able to vacuum my whole house and still have battery left to tackle the outdoor rug that helps keep the mud at bay when the dogs come in and out. Speaking of that rug, this cordless vacuum really pulls out almost all the hair and dirt from it!
Although it’s not a corded vacuum, I’m very pleased with the Shark’s performance and battery life. The only downside is that dog hair tends to collect around the wheels, which feels like a design flaw for a vacuum marketed to pet owners. For that reason, I’m giving it 4 stars. Overall, I’d recommend this vacuum to fellow dog owners!
