The image quality is generally better than that of Asus Fast IPS displays, but there is too much lag compared to a TN panel when tested in ultra-fast FPS games. It’s not suitable for PC gaming overall; it’s more for console users who aren’t concerned about input lag and image delay.

I know the picture looks washed out, but trust me, it looks way better in person; the photo doesn’t capture it well at all. Over the years, I’ve experienced a range of monitors, from outdated ones in the late ’90s to massive Samsung 4K displays today. This AOC monitor is incredibly impressive for its price. I use it as my main monitor because, honestly, I don’t see the value of 4K for gaming, even though I have a powerful GPU (7900XTX). My eyes just don’t perceive much difference between 1440p and 4K when gaming—movies, yes, but gaming, not so much.
After months of use, I’ve had zero issues with the monitor: no dead pixels, no lines or streaks, nothing at all. The Quantum Mini-LED technology is fantastic, and my games look stunning.
Could you find something better? Sure. But at double the price? That’s debatable—I’d say probably not. I eagerly waited for this monitor to be in stock and bought it the moment it was available because of all the great reviews I’d read. My only minor complaint is adjusting from a curved monitor to a flat one; it’s been a bit tough to get used to. However, I’m fine with it now, but I will definitely switch to a curved display of similar quality when I can find one at a comparable price.
If you’re on the fence, don’t already own a Mini LED monitor, and flat screens don’t bother you, this is an amazing 1440p monitor with fantastic HDR and a great refresh rate for around $200—an absolute steal. Get this one ASAP. Highly recommended!

I’m very impressed with this monitor! Upgrading from 1080p, the difference in quality is striking. The refresh rate is excellent, and I haven’t experienced any ghosting or issues that would detract from my gaming experience. The only thing I’d adjust is the power cable, as I find it a bit too short for my setup.

I purchased this monitor in October 2024 for $380 CAD. It outputs 2560×1440 at 170Hz SDR in desktop mode via DisplayPort using the official Valve Steam Deck Dock. However, I haven’t been able to get it to function properly in Big Picture mode yet.
The local dimming on this display is impressively managed. At first, I didn’t even realize it was enabled until I played a starfield pattern video in a dark room. The “Local Dimming” feature acts differently across its three settings: “Low,” “Medium,” and “Strong.”
With the “Strong” setting, black levels are prioritized, providing the best zone control for overall contrast, though this comes at the cost of dimming small highlights to reduce blooming. In contrast, “Medium” and “Low” keep all zones active, ensuring brighter highlights, but they can’t deliver “true black.” While “Low” focuses on highlight reproduction, “Medium” clips some highlights but offers better black levels than “Low.”
As the highlight window size increases, the performance of the three settings becomes more similar, and brightness for full-screen white remains consistent across all three. Local dimming also impacts color accuracy: “Low” and “Medium” offer better accuracy, while “Strong” tends to create non-linear color gradients and oversaturates peaks.
I believe the monitor should have a dedicated button to switch between “Medium” and “Strong” local dimming, as I’ll likely be toggling between them frequently.
Best general settings:
Update December 2024:
Over the past three months, I’ve been using this monitor alongside the Steam Deck OLED at a 6000K white point, trying to calibrate it to match the OLED screen. While I can get about 90% there, the Q27G3XMN consistently has a red tint, and colors will clip to mimic OLED vibrancy.
Universal setting adjustments:
Unfortunately, there isn’t a one-size-fits-all mode. My preferred settings are split into two modes:
Gamma 1 Mode:
Gamma 3 Mode:
These settings may seem unconventional, but there is logic behind them. The Q27G3XMN has three ways to adjust the gamma curve. Gamma 1 tends to have overly bright mid-tones, but “Local Dimming” set to “Low” helps to darken them effectively. Conversely, Gamma 3 has dark mid-tones, and “Local Dimming” set to “Strong” lightens those, so they complement each other well. However, Gamma 3 is quite dark and requires a contrast boost, which incidentally increases color saturation, so the RGB saturation is reduced to the mid-40s to balance. Additionally, Gamma 3 can oversaturate red, making skin tones appear purple, so it’s essential to keep Red and Blue levels below Green for accurate representation.

Having used this monitor extensively, I can confidently say it’s an excellent choice. The picture quality is outstanding, featuring vibrant colors and sharp details that create a visually stunning experience. There’s absolutely no flickering, making it comfortable to use for extended periods. For this price, I am extremely satisfied with my purchase and have no regrets. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking exceptional performance at a reasonable price, especially when compared to other OLED monitors.

I really took my time before purchasing this monitor, and I can confidently say it’s absolutely worth it.
Why? Because the screen is just that incredible! And it’s hard to believe it’s priced under $300.
The stand has exceeded my expectations. Sometimes I like to feel professional and read my Kindle on a larger screen—especially for DK books or those stylish “coffee-table” books. This monitor is perfect for that. I thought adjusting the screen would be cumbersome, but it’s incredibly easy to move around without any strain. This has allowed me to use the monitor in ways I didn’t expect to enjoy, like reading Kindle books. I now prioritize having a functional stand. While monitor arms exist, some of us just want a plug-and-play experience without additional purchases. This monitor provides one of the best stands I could imagine.
I also want to highlight the warranty—three years, including coverage for accidental damage in the first year. That’s unparalleled value, and if they honor their promises, I can’t recommend anything else. For anyone on a budget who wants a quality product that doesn’t feel cheap, this is the way to go.
During my monitor search, I tried various sizes. Initially, I aimed for a 42-inch model, thinking I needed the “best of the best.” I tested the Gigabyte Aorus 43vu and LG C3, along with 34” and 32” monitors. Surprisingly, even without considering price, I believe this 27-inch screen offers the best quality and value. I used to think bigger screens meant more fun, but for gaming at a desk, I’ve learned I’ll always prefer 27 inches over anything larger. So, if you’re worried about the size, trust me—the 27-inch monitor is the superior choice compared to the 32-inch.
I don’t want to persuade anyone to buy this if they might hate it. I hope this enthusiastic review doesn’t mislead you into a negative experience. But honestly, if you’re tired of sifting through Reddit forums and sparse reviews, just take my word for it. I came in skeptical and am genuinely impressed.
Let me address a couple of my initial concerns:
Think about it: how often do you purchase something that feels like it should cost twice as much? Not often enough! Do yourself a favor and go for it.
(To anyone tempted to make a size joke, I get it. Enjoy your day and this review!)
