    As someone who works for a farmer, I’ve witnessed these devices revive completely dead large diesel farm tractors even in -20°F temperatures. Forget about those lousy tire eliminators; this is what you really need.

    Buy the most small engine tinkering one of your friends a case of beer when it arrives. So you can have the go over it. Time will tell was assembled quick and you can tell. Don’t just pulley out of the box expecting it to work take some time with it

    This is the real deal. As a Canadian tow truck operator working in cold weather, I can confidently say this is the best booster pack I’ve ever owned. No other pack compares. After a year of use in both cold and hot conditions, I’ve dropped it and used it to start vehicles with electrical issues from accidents, and it still holds a full charge every time. I haven’t even needed to recharge it—just boost the vehicle and leave it connected while I load it onto the truck, then toss it on the floor until the next use. It has never let me down. It starts diesel bobcats, machinery, and buses with ease. With 15 years in the business, I can say nothing beats this booster pack.

    I wanted to share my experience with the Jump-n-Pack, so please bear with me as this review is a bit lengthy.

    I’ve tried several jump packs in the past, and they all performed adequately—until I got a larger diesel truck, a Mitsubishi FE140 with a 4-cylinder turbo diesel engine. This truck has two batteries and powers a couple of inverters and a fridge.

    One day, after shopping, we found our truck wouldn’t start because we accidentally left the lights on. Unfortunately, the jump pack from a nearby store didn’t work at all. We then called roadside assistance, which turned into quite an adventure:

    1. After more than two hours of waiting and some miscommunication, a guy in a barely running Honda showed up. I couldn’t help but laugh when I saw him pull up with his little yellow light. He had a smaller Clore Jump-n-Carry, which was just as ineffective as the first one. Eventually, he gave up.
    2. Roadside assistance apologized and promised to send a more suitable vendor.
    3. When a larger truck arrived, I thought we were finally in good hands. He had a direct connection to jump our truck, but it took him about 30 minutes to get it to work.

    After that experience, my inner Boy Scout kicked in, and I vowed never to find myself in a similar predicament again. I researched jump packs online and settled on the Clore JNC660, which had positive reviews for starting even larger tractors with multiple batteries. I took a chance and bought it during a Christmas lightning deal, hoping it would work on our truck and also be useful for our boat.

    I made sure to get the updated model, as some reviews mentioned issues with the older version. Initially, everything seemed fine, but I didn’t want to drain the batteries on purpose just to test it. Eventually, the truck wouldn’t start due to a battery drain, so I pulled out the Jump-n-Pack, hoping it would do the job.

    The first thing I noticed was the long reach cables, which were fantastic. Most jump packs I’d used in the past had short cables that required awkward positioning. I connected it and went to the cab, and to my amazement, the truck fired up almost instantly.

    Since then, I’ve used the Jump-n-Pack multiple times on this truck, mainly because the fridge was draining the batteries due to a defect. It has performed flawlessly, jumping the truck not just once but four times in a single day on one charge.

    While it may seem like a simple jump pack, it gets the job done exceptionally well, and I plan to have one in all my vehicles soon.

    Update 08/19/2013: I’ve been using this for quite a while now, and it has never let me down. I’ve boosted my Fuso Turbo Diesel truck multiple times, as well as our Land Rover, lawn mower, and boat. I intend to buy a backup when it goes on sale again.

    There is one downside: after several uses, I noticed the cables getting worn from how they wind up. You need to take care when winding them to prevent this.

    Update 09/12/2013: I purchased a second one during a sale, staying true to my word. I also had to replace both batteries in my truck due to dead cells, which makes this jump pack even more impressive because it still managed to start my truck despite the low water levels in the batteries.

    Update 07/16/2014: I now have two of these, and both are working great!

    Update 04/15/2016: We lost our home in a fire, along with the certificates for battery replacement, so I’m unsure when the batteries will fail. So far, I’ve successfully used multiple JNC660s to jump my vehicles, boat, and RV, as well as assist others in parking lots. Several people were so impressed that they expressed interest in buying one for themselves.

    All I can say is that all three jump packs are still going strong and dependable, which is all that matters.

    I typically don’t write product reviews, but I felt compelled to share my experience with this jump box. I own an older tractor that I accidentally left the lights on overnight, which drained the battery. This jump box started it up without any issues. Additionally, I have an old project truck with a dead battery that had been inactive for over a year. After moving to a new house, I towed the truck here and, once settled, tried the jump box on it. It fired right up! If you need a reliable and durable jump box that’s user-friendly, I wholeheartedly recommend this one. It’s now a permanent fixture in my shop!

    I bought this exact jump box over 15 years ago from the Snap-On Truck at work and have used it both professionally and personally (I race various vehicles, so it was in action almost every weekend at races), and it was AMAZING! Definitely worth every penny! The battery life is outstanding and it can jumpstart big blocks and diesels multiple times before needing a recharge. After 15 years of heavy use, it started to show its age and lost the ability to charge above 50% (just a guess, since the gauge broke along the way), but that didn’t matter to me at all because of its incredible reliability. Unfortunately, I had to find a replacement, but I was thrilled to discover that Amazon carried the exact same model. I will note that it is much heavier than the smaller, sleeker jump boxes that are popular today, but its weight and bulkiness are completely worth it. Sometimes, size really does make a difference!

    In November 2015, I faced an unfortunate situation when my car battery died just as I was preparing for an important presentation at work. It wasn’t a life-or-death scenario, but it was certainly inconvenient. The following day, while waiting for a new battery at the dealership, I decided to order two JNC660s from Amazon—one for myself and one for a friend who had come to jump-start my car and waited to ensure I could drive away smoothly. I chose the Jump-N-Carry due to its numerous positive reviews over the years.

    The JNC660 is incredibly sturdy and has some weight to it, but it fits easily into a trunk or, as in my case, behind the passenger seat. It does require a separate extension cord for charging, which can take some time, but once charged, it holds its power for a long duration. After about a year and a half, I noticed a slight drop in the charge meter, prompting me to plug it in for a top-up. Fortunately, you don’t have to worry about charging it monthly; just charge it, keep it in your car, and check the charge occasionally.

    While the JNC660 exudes confidence, I later discovered smaller battery pack units from other brands (and now offered by Jump-N-Carry as the 311 and 318). Initially skeptical about the ability of these smaller models to jump-start a car, I decided to give them a try, and to my surprise, they worked flawlessly. I had a ChargeIt! unit in my car for a year and successfully jump-started my vehicle with it, even after months without recharging. It performed perfectly when I needed to jump another car, still fully charged.

    Now onto the 311 and 318 models. Both have a similarly rugged build to the 660 but are significantly lighter and smaller. The 311 is noticeably more compact than the 318, and I prefer it for its size. It’s just slightly larger than the ChargeIt! but built to withstand more wear and tear. I also appreciate the built-in flashlight, which is especially useful during nighttime jump-starts, as I prefer not to fumble around car battery terminals in the dark.

    I mention the convenience of the 311’s size because it might be easy to assume from product photos that the two models are the same size, leading you to opt for the more powerful 318 for just about $20 more. However, having both, I’ve decided to keep the 311 in my car. Although the carrying cases are the same size, the 311 is slightly easier to handle while connecting to car terminals.

    That said, the 318 offers some advantages for certain users, including:

    • A preheat option for cold weather
    • A 12V accessory (cigarette lighter-sized plug), which is optional for the 311
    • A rating for 8-cylinder engines compared to the 311’s 6-cylinder rating
    • An additional USB power port

    Since I have a 4-cylinder engine and live in southern Arizona, where temperatures rarely drop, the 311 suits my needs perfectly at around $100. It’s an excellent value. The 318, while still compact for a jump starter, offers great features as well. Although I prefer the 311 for my requirements, the 318 remains a solid choice. The 660, while bulkier and heavier than the lithium models, fits comfortably in a trunk or backseat, is similarly priced, and delivers more power. Ultimately, I believe all three options are solid, and I’m pleased to see Jump-N-Carry expanding into lithium models, which provide fantastic convenience for everyday users.
